On UrbanToronto, January was a month of taking stock of what happened in our city over the course of 2013, and looking forward across the next twelve months. Meanwhile, there were some new development announcements that caught your attention…

Our Top Ten News Stories
As mentioned above, January was a big month for considering what's coming over the next year. We devoted 12 articles to development in various parts of the city, and the most popular of those take up half of our top ten news stories. If we had released our Growth in Downtown story before January 31, that one would be in the list too.
Other popular news included the highly controversial expansion plan for Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, and the slightly controversial expansion plan for the Atrium on Bay. The release of a new downtown condo caught the attention of many of you too, but the top two stories were ones that cover grand plans; a proposal to better use the existing rail infrastructure already in the GTA to move many more people on it, and a complete redevelopment of the current Globe and Mail lands at Front and Spadina, essentially adding a whole new neighbourhood, shopping and office district to Toronto.

Our Top Ten dataBase Files
A certain new aquatic-themed attraction that has proven quite popular with the public at large continues to draw more hits that any other of our dataBase files! Ripley's knows how warmly it has been received on UrbanToronto, so they are providing tickets that you can win—you may have seen our contest announcement here—get your entry in if you haven't yet! (Entries will be accepted up to 11:59 PM, Eastern Standard Time, Thursday, February 6, 2014.) After Ripley's Aquarium, the condos roar in right, usually the biggest, tallest, newest ones! Popping in there as well—we are not surprised to say—is the Union Station Revitalization file. With so much going on down at Union Station, every piece of info helps sort out all the work!
