TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Covered in more detail in the Fleet Procurement Strategy thread I started (which is the report from this info comes)

Good idea.

4415 is doing its first day of testing on 509 after being off loaded on Tuesday. Currently sitting at the EX on the layover track.

4416 took 4415 spot on the flat and is on its way to QC.

Noticed 4413 been sitting on the south side of Hillcrest since Friday Oct 09.

4411 still in the service bay

It been stated 2023 for the full fleet.

4400, 4401, 4403-4411, 4414 done. 4412, 4413, 4415, 4417, 4418 in QC. The last 2 cars have been done in 145 days compare 290-305 days. 4466 is the last car to be done.

4417.

If 4417 is off loaded Friday, it will be 133 days since it was loaded onto a flat. Days between shipping and receiving is getting shorter. Fastest to date if it happens.

4415 was out yesterday doing testing for the 2nd time I know of.

4411 is on the yard service track.

What car will replace 4417 on the flat??

TTC Board endorses Fleet Procurement Strategy and Plan

Oct. 22, 2020

Today, the TTC Board approved a $550-million investment in new vehicles and transit system upgrades made possible by Toronto's City Building Fund.

"This is a great day," said TTC CEO Rick Leary. "This plan will see hundreds of new energy-efficient and zero-emission buses carrying TTC customers starting in two years to replace our aging fleet, advance the City's climate change goals and improve the customer experience while promoting economic prosperity and the social vibrancy of the city."

"This is a positive step forward for the future of Toronto transit. Investing in new vehicles and necessary upgrades will make sure our TTC is operating at its best and moving as many people as possible," said Mayor John Tory. "The plan approved by the Board today starts making those investments in key areas. Now it is also extremely important that Toronto's investments are in short order matched by the federal and provincial governments who both understand the importance of investing in transit, investing in Canadian-built vehicles, and investing in our post-COVID future."

As part of the Fleet Procurement Strategy and Plan the TTC Board gave the go-ahead to the purchase of:

- 600 new buses - 300 hybrids picking up passengers starting in 2022 and 300 new e-buses that - pending the results of the TTC's head-to-head study - would roll out starting in 2023.
- 70 new Wheel-Trans buses starting in 2022
- 13 more streetcars on our streets starting in 2023 with a commitment to buy 47 more if the other governments are willing to come to the table to support transit.

The plan also funds the start of work needed to purchase 80 new subway trains for Lines 1 and 2 to accommodate expansion and an upgraded signaling system on Line 2.

Sounds like we'll need more storage and maintenance capacity too...

The Queensway garage is the 2nd oldest garage (1966) but the smallest capacity at 147 (regular sized buses). See link. It was the replacement for the Parkdale garage (capacity 128 buses), which originally opened in 1947 (see link).

4409 has reenter service on 512 .

4417 will be off loaded today and looks like 4419 will take 4417 spot on the flat for a trip to QC.

4411 Reenter Service October 29/2020 (37 days) after returning on Sept 22/2020 on 504B

Looks like 4415 has reenter service on 505 after returning Oct 13. It was put in the service yard this morning. If in service, the fastest to reenter service

4418 was off loaded on Tuesday at Hillcrest and currently at the Barns. It was Shipped June 22 and only took 156 days for the round trip. Most likely it will re-enter service in Jan 2021.

4421 took 4418 spot on the flat.

4417 was returned Oct 26 after 136 day and been here 29 days so far.

4410 could be the next car to return since it left June 29.
