The transition of the former to the latter should be considered a crime.
More on grounds of the dull barrel-bottom "bureaucratic Moderne" replacement and its fortress-like stance relative to the corner. However, to be fair, the original would almost certainly have been viewed as nothing more than a dated eyesore in the 1930s...

Changes since that photo was taken 70 years ago:

Barbara Ann Scott: Was then 25 yrs old. She got married and moved to the USA in 1955. She passed away in 2012.

The helicopter: Was one of two Hiller 360's purchased by Kenting Aviation in 1950. Its sister ship crashed in the Yukon in 1952. Likely removed from service in the early 1960's.
