40 years since its 1980 establishment, the BILD Awards returned last week to celebrate another year of winners in the design, construction, sales, and marketing of new homes in the Greater Toronto Area. Going virtual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the online event kicked off last Tuesday, September 15th at noon, with awards issued every day through September 18th. This year, awards were judged by 39 experts from across North America in 44 categories representing 947 entries.
Standing out from among the big winners this year, Great Gulf Homes took home both Home Builder of the Year Low-Rise and Home Builder of the Year Mid/High-Rise. This marks the first time that these two categories since having been created in 2016 from the previously single overall Home Builder of the Year award, were won by the same developer.
More of this year's big winners are included below, while a full list of finalists and winners can be found at the BILD Awards website.

Acorn Developments also won Best Semi-Detached/Townhouse Design for Lookout on the Knoll, The Cedar, and Green Builder of the year, Low-Rise.
“The People’s Choice Award is a unique honour because it is the public that decides the winner,” reads a statement issued by BILD President and CEO Dave Wilkes. “5,496 people cast votes for projects that competed for the best in city building. These projects demonstrate how the industry is providing a wide range of housing options for home buyers in GTA.”
