How would this work for those in the Fair Pass program?
Multiple by 2/3 for those on the concessionary rate. Same way GO multiplies by 1/2 for children and seniors.

(I don't think it works though ... revenues are a bit lower than current for most users - and then much higher for current for those that take 52 rides).
 
Portions of TTC's Line 1 to close this weekend for signal modernization

This weekend, Dec. 1-2, TTC crews continue to install the Automated Train Control (ATC) signal system on Line 1 Yonge-University, requiring portions of the line to close for periods of time. On Sat., Dec. 1, there will be no service on the portion of Line 1 between Finch West and St George stations. On Sun., Dec. 2, there will be no service on the portion of Line 1 between Finch West and Lawrence West stations.

At the end of the weekend, the entire area between Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Dupont stations will run on ATC. This milestone means that customers riding along that portion of the line will encounter more reliable service and fewer delays due to signal issues. When ATC is fully implemented on Line 1, it will provide a more modern and reliable signal system that will allow for an increase in the number of trains operating on the line.

Shuttle buses will run throughout the weekend. Lately it seems trains are often at 5-minute intervals at around 6:30-6:45 and 3:30-3:45 on line 1, which is totally insufficient. I arrived on the Bloor southbound platform at 6:40 this morning just as the train was leaving, and the platform filled up within 3 minutes. I am wondering how a new signal system will help if they just don't have or use the trains.

When I get on at St George at around 6:11 AM heading towards Union there is a train every other minute and the platform is always empty. If things go sideways like they did at Sheppard West there will be fun times in the morning rush hour.

For those unaware, when ATC was initially turned on north of Sheppard West it led to a myriad of operational and signal issues up to and including Sheppard West turnbacks. Turnbacks at Sheppard West are not bad but if the signals crap out at Dupont it will not be fun having St. George or Spadina turnbacks in the morning rush.

This is a point that Steve Munro often makes. All well and good to have a system capable of 2 minute headways, but without the rolling stock to do it, it become somewhat (although not completely) meaningless.

And the TTC doesn't have the stock to provide it.

Why are they dumping passengers before switching modes? They are not required to do so currently.

Because the point of this exercise on Saturday is to test the full extant of the ATO. They've done localized testing, but not the full stretch yet. This is the last thing to happen before everything gets the okay and opened to revenue service.

They did the same with the first section of ATO between Dupont and Wilson. And they will continue to do it as the ATC/ATO installation progresses.

Will there be delays while the train switches from the ATO section to the non ATO track?
 
I mean the little pause while the train changes systems.
 
Yes, whether the train will need to stop when changing from fixed block to ATC. IIRC, there is currently a delay north of Sheppard West when SB trains change from the old system to the new one. Will this same issue move downstream and make its way around the rest of line 1 as they install ATC (and line 2 in the coming years)?
