The problem about shipping the Flexities by rail is they require an empty flatbed on each end as a buffer between other cars including other Flexities so if one is missing or unavailable when they want to ship the vehicle, they can't because of the clearance requirements.

Idler cars can be found all over the place and no big deal. Idler cars are require for anything ship longer than the car or cars they over hang. A lot of items longer than the Flextity are ship by rail and they have idler cars each end as well between the cars they site on.
There supposed to 3 89' flats up in Thunder Bay for BBD and they will have 2 idler cars with them. In Sept, there should be a few more sets if BBD is to ship as plan as you can't wait for the ones going to Hillcrest to come back based on current shipping time. They may go back empty faster than ship.

Do you really think that they used a crane to load 4400 onto its trailer, or off of? Because they didn't. They used ramps.
More recently: the GO cab car didn't need a crane to be loaded onto its trailer, and off of it, to get delivered.
To the vehicle being loaded, it doesn't matter if what it is being loaded on has steel wheels or rubber tires.

4441 is heading southbound Bathurst at this time from doing some testing on St Clair. First day I seen it out for testing.

Oh, when did they pull 4000? Looks like it's parked in the yard at Leslie Barns. Doesn't seem that it's been that long since I saw it running.

Kind of. That's either 4000 as nfitz mentioned, or PCC 4500 which runs on 509 Harbourfront on Sundays during the summer (that one is an unscheduled extra/subject to operator availability/maintained as a hobby, not part of regular scheduled service, and rides are free).

It's currently marked as "do not repair" due to small wheels. Because pulling the trucks apart to fit new wheels is such an endeavour on the CLRVs, its now at the point where any major work to the trucks or wheels can lead to a car getting retired.
In the case of 4000, it's hoped that it will be kept for at least a little while as the Leslie mule.
If we're going to go by cars in the fleet, what about 2766?

So does that mean the TTC will be one short of the new streetcars they ordered or will this one be repaired eventually?
