I saw on twitter someone mention 4442 was at the bay door at the plant in Thunder Bay. So it looks like, depending on when 4442 arrives, they missed the July commitment by about a week.

I thought the schedule was the shipping schedule, not the arrival schedule. Still missed by a couple of days.
But why? If it was just held up testing that identified an issue, probably not serious, assuming the entire assembly line isn't backlogged.

Maybe they held them back to fix the issue with the doors that they have been having. It's also possible that some of the parts for them could have come in later then originally scheduled.

My understanding the cars are to be on TTC property to be class as ship.
If 4441 was delivery to TTC today as noted, that about 10 days when it was to be pickup and a problem for BBD. CP can take a few days or up to 2 weeks for the time a car is ready at BBD and get to TTC Hillcrest. Based at the time 4441 was ready for pickup, it could be at TTC by July 31. It would mean that one car was still missing for the month.
TTC has been forewarn on delivery for this year and this most likely the start of it. Will 4442 be part of July delivery as plan or become a Aug car?? Anyway you cut it delivery has been miss by a few days in Thunder Bay or about 1-2 weeks when it shows up at Hillcrest. 4442 will not be off loaded until Tuesday, Aug 8 since Monday is a Holiday if CP gets down over the weekend.
As for testing, out of my area.

I wonder if they would consider abandoning shipping by train like they have and instead ship by truck instead as they don't have to wait on CP sending out an engine to pick it up and then have to wait for them to put it on a train heading to Toronto, etc.

I can't imagine how maybe having the LRV's a few days sooner would be worth the hassle and expense of shipping another hundred and fifty of something that big by road all the way from Thunder Bay.

Agreed. We need them to come out of the factory more frequently; whether it takes a week or a month to reach Toronto doesn't matter much. Multiple LRVs can be in the shipping stage simultaneously.

Very costly per car to do what you suggested.
Don't know Thunder Bay Setup, but I would say you need a crane to load the car onto the trailer. You can only travel in daylight with escorts front and rear and deal with height clearance. Once you get into Toronto, will be subject to time window. Will need a crane at Hillcrest or Leslie.
To save time, too costly to do and not worth it. That is why the ramp at Hillcrest was built.

Can you explain why it would be worthwhile to get a new streetcar here a day or two sooner and at a large extra cost? Though CP may not always pick up cargo immediately I doubt truckers would be any better - it's not as though a new streetcar would fit on any truck.

You don't need a crane at either end. It would cost them more than the rail moves do today. There is a TTC gauge'd loading ramp at Thunder Bay already, and it wouldn't take long (or cost much) to build a ramp like the one used in Kitchener for unloading at this end.

If you are shipping by trucks, cranes are needed and why I said it was a waste doing and ship by rail using ramps. Unless you got a long lowboy that I don't know of that can drop its rear to roll the car off the trailer onto the track with a small ramp, you need a crane. All the cars for Kansas City, Cinci and Detroit were ship on a lowboy that could drop its end and roll off the track since they were only 66' long. If you do what KC did, don't need a crane, but need space for it to be store

It's interesting to note how LRT's have been delivered elsewhere, but road delivery makes little sense when the rail delivery is as good as it is.
As noted, the issue for TTC is how frequently Bombardier ships, not how long delivery takes.
