Toronto The Residences of 488 University Avenue | 206.95m | 55s | Amexon | Core Architects

I think the University Ave glass that has been installed is going to be completely covered by the new 2-story glass podium that will be built onto the front. The artist's pictures show that the remainder of the University Ave face will look the same as the Dundas side.

That's correct. This is the most revealing of the renderings. It shows that above the atrium, the windows will be like the Dundas side, but without any fins.

A week ago, those were from the southeast.

Today, starting at the southeast corner again, but closer, and then moving west:

Such a cool project to see built out. And lol for CIBC calling them "renovations."

Question for the thread that I can't discern an answer to based on the renderings: On the old part of the building to which the new facade is being added, are they at some point going to remove what was the previous facade? In the last image, I'm referring to the white drywall-looking material and the old windows.

If not, won't it be super weird to have essentially two window curtains? And won't that create a kind of awful, sheltered interior experience for folks in the old portion of the tower?

The white drywall-looking material was recently installed in order to allow them to remove the existing cladding (the precast concrete). Once the new window cladding is installed, they will remove the temporary walls/windows behind the new glass.

Got it, thanks—makes much more sense, and had assumed something along those lines was the case.

A few from the weekend:

Last two show a profoundly unsafe concrete/crane scenario that should probably be reported (lots of nasty stuff falling down onto the street below).

I wonder how the elevator situation will be once all is said and done. Will some/all of the existing elevators be modified to extend up and serve the condo floors? Or will there be a couple new elevator shafts constructed through the existing office floors for the condos alone?

There are 2 express elevators being built on the north side of the building to solely service the residential lobby on the 19th floor.

The existing office elevators only service up to level 18 as they do currently.
