...Surette, the owner of the Trackside Café inside Georgetown GO station, witnessed the incident, and said Price came into the station and spoke to the GO employee on duty because his Presto card wouldn’t work.

I think that's what he was referring to. Plucked from the middle of the article.

It's possible he hadn't paid the bill, and became easily enraged because he needed to smoke some crack .

Knee-slapping comedy gold, or head-slapping ineptitude:

Ford says "it's no one's business what happens in my office". David Price is a city employee, paid roughly $130,000 in his role.

He must be referring to negative press. Surely then that logic must apply to all of the good things that he has done from that office as well. That must explain all of the good-news-slash-positive-results we haven't been hearing about. It's all making sense now!

Well, his salary would net what, 2-3 times the annual budget for dinners for late council meetings per year - and the latter would have councillors bum on the council seats to show for it (instead of front page news of city staff behaving badly). How's that for effectiveness?

Ford heading to Austin on networking trip

Mayor Rob Ford and a handful of city councillors are turning to Austin, Texas for inspiration as they work to turn Toronto into a better live entertainment destination.

Ford told reporters on Thursday that he will head to the self-proclaimed ‘Live Music Capital of the World’ from October 2-6 in an attempt to learn more about the city’s bustling music scene and network with music industry types who may be able to help bring more entertainment business to Toronto.

Several other councillors are expected to make the trip, including Scarborough councillors Gary Crawford and Michael Thompson.

“We are going to work closely with the music industry down there and see what sort of deals we can make,” Ford said. “It is hopefully going to benefit all of Texas and all of Toronto.”

Or he could put a little more city funds into NXNE. But a trip to Austin is better use of cash. Anyone know if he's heard of NXNE?

It's a good idea - Toronto has a huge live music scene but it's way underutilized as a tourist draw. Understanding how Austin pulled off their positioning as the live music capitol of the US is useful. There's also a formal partnership between the two cities.

That said, Rob will no doubt ruin it by getting coked out of his skull and taking a shit on stage in the middle of an Austin City Limits taping.

since NXNE was copied from/modelled after Austin's SXSW and it is a huge festival that does very well......visiting Austin to get ideas on making NXNE work and grow might not be a bad idea.

You know, it is a bloody shame that Royal Canadian Air Farce was canceled just a few years before Ford became mayor... :(

The show was going downhill personally, but man Ford could have given it such an adrenaline boost :D
But hey, the warrior princess came to Rob Ford and he phoned 911 for trespassing. He needs to lighten up.

These trips can be a good thing, but it requires people who know what they're talking about. Does Rob Ford know anything about the live music scene in Toronto? I seriously doubt he does. That makes such a trip kind of pointless.

Even if Ford gets some good ideas, we know he won't be voting for any public funding to be used.

Considering the pressing issues facing the city, this seems like a vacation on 'company' time.
