Council is having a dinner break. That has to be a first.
Today Tory said "respect". The flowers on his desk haven't wilted yet. Next Council meeting in a month Ward 2 will be debated, by election or appointment, and voted on by Council. Why the delay?

Coun. Ainslie's motion to track homeless deaths passes 36-1. There will always be one.

That was very moving. Thank you.I'm not deflecting, I'm embracing the classlessness and ricocheting the bozo label back at you.
I'd want nothing to do with them if I was a politician, given it's co-founder's praise to Allah for strength not to murder white people, only three months after Islamists (a legitimate term BTW, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...y-want-one-thing.-We-cannot-appease-them.html) murdered 130 people in Paris, and over 160 Canadian soldiers (to date) have been killed in the war against Islamofascism in Afghanistan, at home and elsewhere. So, Tory doesn't meet with Black Lives Matter and everyone is on his case. Wynne does it and everyone is on her case. You just can't please everyone...

At worst it's bad optics.
I admit I'm likely taking it too far, but the optics risk IMO is that the co-founder of the organization is suggesting a wish to commit murder. Perhaps we're okay with that, and I suggest we likely are. Desmond Cole gave a good account of this here http://www.thestar.com/opinion/comm...ses-to-violence-for-violence-itself-cole.htmlI'm not quite clear why giving this group a sympathetic ear would be 'bad optics', either.
its bad optics because of that tweet and what she said. Can you imagine if that was said against gays or the jewish people? For sure Wynne would distance herself from the group (even if she were not gay) and for sure John Tory would come down harder on the group. Even other group is off limits except the whitesYou're conflating a lot of things in order to come up with 'don't associate with Black Lives Matter Toronto because we have soldiers in harm's way in Afghanistan'. I'm not quite clear why giving this group a sympathetic ear would be 'bad optics', either. It would diffuse the situation, it got them to dismantle the tent city, and it would have (at minimum) some of the more articulate and combative of the city's columnists on your side for once.
you think its been spun out of proportion cause its against a non minority group. I can't wait until the next time some group or someone says something against a "minority" group. It should be no big dealoh my, this tweet - which was more or less an inappropriate equivalent of "god grant me the patience not to tell the idiots I have to deal with today not to f off" really has been spun way out of proportion - on both sides. Agar trolled the twitter accounts to find it.

Mayor John Tory says he doesn’t like to travel.
But he’ll have to get used to living out of a suitcase for the next two weeks as he jets to San Francisco, China and Japan on city business. It will be Tory’s longest trip since being elected but he stresses that it’s essential to sell the city to investors and attract jobs.

Huh. Councillors Pasternak and Holland have both quietly resigned from the Budget Committee: http://app.toronto.ca/tmmis/viewAgendaItemHistory.do?item=2016.ST8.1…
