GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Metrolinx says it is setting up a "laydown site" for storing materials where the Richmond Hill line crosses York Mills Road. The notice is labelled under the GO expansion header. I think there is a layover facility planned here? It sounds like construction is starting.

From the notice:

Metrolinx will be setting up a laydown site at 845 York Mills Road. This site will be used to store materials and provide access to the rail corridor. As part of the set up, crews will be conducting various activities such as grading the site with heavy machinery, installing utilities and setting up trailers and barriers. During this time, residents/businesses can expect to see more vehicles traffic in proximity of the site.

I believe this is that layover facility they were planning in the don valley, but decided to move it further north due to yelling from the community

The point of all that heavy timber is that heavy machinery needs a road surface to move up and down the track. That aligns to the work being done at night when trains aren’t running.

Lots of grubbing has just been done along that stretch, TPZ or otherwise.
