Among the next wave of projects coming to Dupont Street is Lifetime Developments' Oscar Residences – a nine-storey, Turner Fleischer Architects-designed building west of Bathurst Street in Toronto. As construction of the project is underway, a pit has formed, with a crane positioned at the centre of the site.

Taking a closer look into the pit, excavation was close to wrapping up recently — excavators were still present, with one in the foreground, and another hidden behind the shaft of the crane in the image below — when the shot below was taken in late March. Only requiring one underground level, it will have 74 spaces for resident and visitor parking. Seen at the rear of the image below; a dump truck waits to remove excavate from the pit.

Looking across the pit we can see that the majority of the site's perimeter has been fitted with a pile and lagging type of shoring wall, to maintain the structure of the pit while it is dug; the wall ensures that the earth on the opposite side of the pit will not make its way in. At the base of the pit we can see steel I-beams awaiting use, while more lumber in the distance, sitting in piles, waiting to be installed.

The development will bring 155 new condominium suites to the Seaton Village neighbourhood, offering a range of layouts spanning from studios to three-bedrooms, as well as be the first project from Lifetime Developments – and the first such residential building in Canada – to integrate water and air filtration technology designed to kill 97.9% of viruses in all shared amenity spaces.
