Vertical construction of AYC Condos at the northeast corner of Davenport and Bedford roads in Central Toronto is coming to a close as crews assemble the forms needed to create the cantilevered crown of the 27-storey building. Standing for 'Annex Yorkville Connection', AYC Condos fronts the intersection with the 242-unit tower element and features three supplementary blocks of townhouses to the east.

The project is a joint venture between Metropia and Diamond Corp, and is designed by TACT Architecture. In our previous update from April, the tower had risen more than halfway to its final height, as window wall and spandrel application progressed on the lower floors.

A recent batch of photos in the UrbanToronto Forum detail the progress made in the months since. Work to create the protruding rooftop element is now underway, with glazing wrapping the bottom half of the structure. Several modules of thick wraparound balconies will comprise much of the building's architectural expression.

Although mostly obscured behind scaffold, the images reveal the first limestone units cladding the podium. The ground-level retail space will boast a similar treatment, accented by Eramosa limestone.

The development shares the block with a 25-storey TCHC apartment building, which recently underwent a retrofit that sealed its aging brick facade under dual-toned grey metal cladding. AYC Condos replaces a former private green space at the west end of the block which topped the apartment building's parking garage.
