Our annual Growth To Watch For series is back again, bigger, taller, and more comprehensive than ever before. Over the course of 2019, we brought you to every significant development happening across the 416, and now we're delving beyond into the wider Greater Toronto Area. We're covering everything from brand new proposals, to those inching their way through the planning process, to those already under construction or about to be completed.
A total of 25 reports are highlighting what's happening across the region, with 23 previously released. (Details about how to get them can be found at the bottom of this article.) For a taste of what's offered in the 24th report, here's a sneak peek at the area highlighted.

Our third Growth to Watch For report from the 905 zone around Toronto starts on the west side of Brampton, we cut eastward through the city and then into York, where we document all development happening west of Highway 404 throughout Vaughan, Richmond Hill, and Markham. Not to be overshadowed by the rampant construction activity in Toronto, these communities are seeing their fare share of development as urban densification makes its way into the suburbs.
A handful of significant projects are in the pipeline for these municipalities. A few examples include a sprawling 1.2-million-square-foot mega-mall in the outskirts of Brampton, a collection of 30+ towers planned to replace the Shoppers World Brampton shopping centre, and a major office development with the Milestone Corporate Campus on Steeles Avenue in Vaughan.
Loftier heights are being sought in the parts of the region, with tall towers becoming increasingly familiar as housing demands push proposals taller. One such example is U Developments' three-tower proposal at 253 Queen Street East in Brampton. The three-tower development's tallest building, at 46 storeys and 153.6 metres, would become Brampton's tallest tower if approved as currently proposed.
The Vaughan Metropolitan Centre area is easily the busiest development node in this part of the region, and is also getting a new tallest building. Now under construction, CG Tower will be the fifth tower in Cortel Group's Expo City community. At a height of 189 metres, the 60-storey condominium tower will become the tallest building in Vaughan upon completion.
