TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Saying "they might make it" is optimistic?

If I said that Trump might be elected, does that imply I'm optimistic that he'll be president and/or think the chance of his election is greater than 50%?

It is optimistic given the clear failure of this company to live up to their own statements. You could have taken your base case as being "more of the same" which is to say they will continue to not meet their own statements, yet you chose to leave open the possibility that they will actually do so.

They are already on the path of not meeting the latest schedule.

All you have to do is say "I doubt BBD will make the schedule because they never have."

in sports betting that is called "never betting against the streak"....problem is, all streaks get broken at some point in time ;)

Any more photos of the rerailing of the streetcar from Aug 19th? Interested in knowing what type of system they used / who the manufacturer is.

Good grief. Maybe they should call time of death on 4402 and stop pounding its chest. "Live, dammit, live!"

There are a number of videos on Youtube demonstrating the rerailing of a low-floor streetcar. The equipment may not be exactly the same as what is used here, but it's all going to be quite similar.

Bombardier apologists have some more splainin' to do today.

Bombardier misses another deadline for Eglinton Crosstown project

Metrolinx confirmed Wednesday that the Quebec-based manufacturer has yet to complete the test vehicle for the Crosstown. Which means that Bombardier has missed the end-of-August target date that the company said as recently as last month it was on track to meet.

"Bombardier has missed the end-of-August target date that the company said as recently as last month it was on track to meet.
...
Bombardier was originally supposed to deliver the first pilot vehicle in the spring of 2014. The date was later pushed back to the spring of 2015, but that timeline was also missed."

But but but they might still make their next target!

"In April, the company set a new target of supplying a total of 30 of the vehicles by the end of 2016. Lefebvre told the Star Bombardier is on track to meet that end-of-year quota, and to deliver all 204 new TTC streetcars by 2019."

Bold-faced liar. They are not on track to meet this year's target.

Sure they will, several almost-ready to run streetcars will be rolled off the rails at Hillcrest on December 31 so they can say that they made the delivery deadline. The fact that those cars will take months to get on the road in service is a different story.

To put just the slightest bit of reality back into this thread....

Nothing leaves Thunder Bay until the TTC's agents sign off on everything, including many of the steps of the assembly of the vehicle. This includes powering it up and seeing it move.

Thus, the likelihood of BBD being able to ship out a number of vehicles en mass is excruciatingly unlikely.
