I have to agree with Agram, it is not the TTC's fault, many factors are contributing, and yet another was added with the door dilemma. A lot has to be done, and I apologize to Agram about the way he was treated when he came.

Its hard to accept bad news for something you're really looking forward too, but unfortunately, its the reality...

I guess I did

But seriously some of you make it sound like its the TTC's fault the trains are late. When they finally arrive they will be tested by us for at least a few months. Wilson complex is no where of being finished, the mechanics as far as I know have not been schooled on the new trains. Until these 2 items are adressed first no trains will be in service and lets not forget training for operators.

true that =) but no service till christmas? man the new year just started and now u got me thinking about christmas lol wish i had a time machine :p

Great article! great game!thanks for posting I can't wait to ride the new TTC rockets

I spotted all your changes, you wrote: More than 200 of Toronto subway cars are more than 30 years old

but the article is accurate in saying that: More than half of them are more than 30 years old

you wrote: the new trains will roll out on the Y-U-S line (York-University-Spadina)

but the reporter was correct in writing that the Y-U-S line is Yonge-University-Spadina

I don't know if all subway stops will be fitted with the automatic train control technology, but it is supposed to be synchronized so it makes sense that eventually they will all be equipped with it.

The 2015 year for expansion is correct, I read in the Fall issue of the 2009 Toronto paper that is available in the subway (page 25) that by 2015, the Y-U-S line will be expanded to run North from Downsview station, so that is correct as well.

Great game and I liked your clever word play on factual errors from the original article: http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-...ansit-passengers-welcome-hitech-subway-trains

I really liked the video demo of the new TTC trains below the original article, it rocks! check it out

Thats because I left a comment on his article and he corrected the errors. I'm sure some other people contacted him, when i saw the article it had the errors that were mentioned. Why would anyone change the article on purpose, the reporer made all those mistakes, but fixed them

I think he's still wrong about the more than half of the cars being over 30 years... although I'm not sure can anyone confirm?

I'm looking for info on the train derailment, I think I remember the evacuation and television cover story, but can't remember the other details of when and where

TTC subway extension costs up $123-million, and construction hasn't begun yet

A primer on the extension of the Yonge-University-Spadina line in 2015:
The Toronto-York Spadina Subway Extension Project will be the first TTC rapid transit line to cross the City of Toronto boundary. The new line will run new subway trains, include 2,900 commuter parking spaces at various stations and feature artwork by both Toronto and international artists (the TTC generally allocates at least 1% of the overall cost of public spaces in stations for public art).Tunneling for the line will begin next year, and it is expected to be up and running by 2015.
Six stations will be built along the extension, although their names are subject to change at this point. (Quote)

..here it is, the Toronto Examiner reporter Tomitheos was right, there was a TTC train derailment just less than a year ago:

Derailment causes problem for subway service

Last Updated: Monday, February 4, 2008 | 11:06 AM ET
CBC News

A subway train car derailment at the Kennedy station Monday morning has partially shut down down service on the Bloor-Danforth line.

Shuttle buses will be running between Kennedy station and Warden station until Toronto Transit Commission crews can fix the problem.

According to the TTC, a train developed a problem at about 1 a.m., possibly losing a piece of equipment from its undercarriage.

"That sort of caused a series of events which resulted in the rear car of the train coming off the rails," said TTC spokesman Danny Nicholson.

"There was, I understand, four passengers on the train at the time, plus the two-person crew, no injuries reported whatsoever. So for the time being, and actually for the rest of the day, likely there will be no subway service in both directions between Kennedy and Warden stations."

A number of crews are on the scene trying to determine the problem.

"We have our track and structure department here, our safety department, our signals and safety department, so various departments from the TTC are on site conducting the investigation," said Nicholson.

Why are you posting that in this thread? It isn't about the new Toronto Rocket...

sure it is,
if you read previous posts, it is confirming a story that a TTC train did in fact lose equipment from the undercarriage and derailed
it also answers to why the new Toronto trains are replacing the old fleet that is virtually falling apart one piece at a time

are there any other companies that makes train doors? i found one on google and it's based in london...

So the new trains will go on YUS first? Will the TTC eventually run nothing but new ones on the YUS line and move the T1 trains to BD?

I'm asking because it seems as if there are a lot more H series trains on YUS than there were 5 years ago. When I moved to Toronto 7 years ago, I rarely boarded an H-series car on YUS. Now they seem at least as common as T1 trains. What happened?

new trains will be on the yus line and the t1s will be moved to the bd line. one of the h series will be sold to an undisclosed buyer and other h series will slowly be scraped...

well if you compare it to hong kong, taiwan, and even the states, yes. either way i removed it. sorry if i have offended anyone who works for the ttc. but u kno something, its not like they never made any mistakes before. already two incidents of collectors sleeping on the job, is it still Transit That Cares? i don't think so...
