Rob Ford's Toronto

I'm not trying to white wash anything just add some perspective. Yes Ford has done some terrible things in his private life - he could have killed someone with his drunk driving which is unforgivable -but Wynne is a hypocrite with her holier-than-thou attitude given her involvement in the $Billion gas plant scandal. I also think that if and when investigative journalists start digging into the business dealings between Kathleen Wynne's wife's consulting company and the Ontario government some eyebrows will be raised. I think it stinks that the Premier's wife (and hence the Premier herself) are getting an untold number of contracts directly from the Ontario government worth untold millions!

Tom... Tom Sawyer. Right?

Ever since hard drive platters achieved densities leading to capacities of 15GB or more, NIST and even Guttman himself (who wrote the paper that recommended a 7-pass wipe, which is what the DoD uses) agree that using magnetic force microscopy to recover data is completely impossible.

As I said earlier, impossible, unless you have a Ft. Meade budget.

The truth is, it costs more to pay employees to sit there and wipe drives than second-hand enterprise drives could ever be worth.

But that assumes that, as you said, they are 15GB or more. Which I agree with...mostly.

Here's a little story. Back when Y2K was going on, TD didn't want to spent the cash to upgrade their systems. IBM said that therefore we're not supporting your System/370's anymore. TD essentially said "fine, we'll take our chances."

I wouldn't be surprised at all if some bank hardware is still using RAID arrays from the early 2000's. And let's not get into the recovery of static HDDs and flash drives.

Q: Who says the equipment was worth that much?
A: Rob Ford.
Q: Did he provide proof of payment to substantiate this statement?
A: Haha!

The "more": as long as the old equipment was stored at Bosco, Rob Ford and crew would be a presence there. While his coaching days with the Eagles were done, the Rexdale Raiders continued in the summer. Why should Bosco provide storage for another program, with the added strings / baggage?

Thank you. That does make sense. Tear the bandaid off clean and rinse thoroughly, leaving no traces of pus, lest the infection return.

Even if it wasn't completely unrecoverable, it's unrecoverable for the purposes of forensics anyway, since they're only allowed to use what can be imaged by a bit for bit copy from the original, which must stay unchanged from the way it was found.

Apropros of nothing, even though this is the truth, in the government, we're still required to do the 7 pass thing or physical destruction. I guess they didn't get the memo.
Didn't this thread have this exact same conversation several hundred pages ago though?

Yes.

FWIW, when I dispose of HDDs, I drill about six holes through them. After doing a Guttman seven-zero overright.

UT has always had a large representation from this demographic. You see it in this thread where many with no legal expertise believed with strong conviction that Ford was going to jail. I think much of the "ignorant but sure" crowd can be attributed to the younger folks on UT, plus the man-childs in their 20s and 30s still living in their parents' house. Once you live a little, you begin to see that there is a difference between opinion, desire and fact.

Everybody born after 1983 is a sociopath. Rule of thumb that I use. Harsh, but true.

Apparently not even close. I recall Don Bosco replaced the equipment at a fraction of the cost, something in the region of 40-50% of what Ford claimed it was worth. But then again, we shouldn't be surprised with the typical Ford exaggerations and hyperbole.

Wha? RoFo lying and not being called on it? I am shocked.

Here's an idea for those of you (Cowboy JoeW not included, of course) that don't wish for "ford more years". Find a sympathetic sign printer, raise a few bucks, and print off 4x8' coroplast election signs.

On them:
Direct RoFo/DoFo quotes (date/liar who said it) at the top, with (sourced) refutal below.

"Robbies attendance record is better than any other councillor"
DoFo Sept 7, 2013

Actually, it's not. <insert>*Facts, Facts, Facts*

Please elect a candidate worthy of your trust.
Paid for by Stop the Lies coalition.

Place these around the roads coming into town from Etibocoke to start hammering away at their logic centers.

What the hell does Wynne have to do with the gas plants? She was not the premier at the time, and the opposition parties also wanted to cancel the plants.

I've never seen another person be as manipulative and self-interested as him; he'd try and turn everything to make himself a victim and get more attention from her. I thought this was all a personality trait, but in researching the Satanic Church and LaVey I found out this kind of behaviour is church doctrine and at the core of its teachings. It's all about selfishness, and I'm sure LaVey (like Ayn Rand and L.Ron Hubbard) created their followings in order to justify their own misgivings.

Randroids, I call them. Most are also autistic. Jaffo[1], Ezra Levant, Marc Emery, the list goes on.

[1] 20 points if you are so old school internet you know who he is.

What I want to know is will Ford's porno be as well written as, Who's Nailin' Paylin? It'll be hard to match that level of wholesomeness.

When Sarah Palin first started to come into the public eye, I took a look at some of her filings.

A lot of things pointed to my suspicion that she and Todd were major pot growers. Among them, who the hell owns 52 ATVs?

Shades of Dofo...

That's not to say that one line couldn't do a lot of damage, but I get the impression that the worst of it all has already been revealed.

Yesterday I had to read a court brief about a pedophile in a divorce case who, while his name is protected by a pub ban to "protect the children" (ha!) there is enough info in the document that anyone with half a brain can figure out who the perp is.

And Vancouver police are protecting this asshole, too. I came back to the Ford Board this morning to try and get my mind off it.
