Rob Ford's Toronto

At this point, there's nothing Ford can do that would be shocking, distrubing or disgusting. Perhaps with the exception of him actively working wiht organized crime or being involved in some kind of murder.
Ford Nation can tolerate murder and the mafia. Didn't Doug Ford say at one point that Rob could kill someone on the steps of City Hall (what steps?) and people would still vote for him? I think at this point the only thing to knock Ford Nation off it's feet at this point is if it turns out that Rob Ford is a card-carrying member of the NDP party and had a baby with Olivia Chow.

The Star is hinting that Alana might not be a "friend" of Rob's:

@ddale8 @HeatherMallick @TorStarEditor Has there been any follow-up as to who the mysterious "Alana" is? She of the St Pats night fiasco?

@JettisonCocoon @ddale8 @HeatherMallick we're working on this but early indications are she is not as the mayor described her.

This should make the "Toronto’s Watergate? The inside scoop on how the media exposed Rob Ford" Q&A tommorrow verrrry interesting!

Meh, pass. "Hey, let's talk about how we're heroes before the story has even come to a proper conclusion! Who says newspapers are dying?"

I'm sure the media lawyer, off the record, has filled them in completely.

Yes, this is definitely the case. Had a talk with a prominent CBC journalist recently - on Nov 13th when more of the ITO was released. The single most interesting thing I learned was that they (CBC journalists) had been briefed on what the file contained. She had to figure out just what had been released that day so she could file and construct a narrative.

There isn't actually a lot left in the ITO to be released, is there? I mean, there are the odd black blocks left here and there, but I'm assuming that if there was any earth-shattering stuff left in there, it would involve several pages worth of material. That's not to say that one line couldn't do a lot of damage, but I get the impression that the worst of it all has already been revealed.

It should be said that Nordheimer's ruling has NOTHING TO DO with the Crown's attempt to build their case, but with the principle of open courts trumping any privacy concerns and completely unscientific claims about 'biased' juries in the wake of highly publicized details.

well, maybe. I'd like to think so but who knows? Judges instruct juries to "ignore" things but who's to say they can? Can you unsee something you've seen? There has been so much online speculation about everyone and everything connected to this. Like the Alana thing. The public ransacks Google and exposes a bunch of stuff that may or may not have anything to do with the case, jurors come into the trial with preconceived ideas based on stuff they saw floated on twitter or whatever... maybe they feel sorry for someone because they already watched them get all their personal stuff dragged out months before the trial.

Not asserting anything, just wondering ...

No my understanding is that there are substantial portions left that we haven't seen. We're not just talking redacted portions of the stuff that was already released - but stuff above and beyond that.

my guess is that the rest of the damaging material to be released has to do with renata ford and domestic abuse at the hands of rofo. just a hunch - would definitely suit the "disgusting" description suggested by the star.

second - it will finally confirm the true identity of juiceman. if it turns out NOT to be the caribbean carrot singing man, i'll be upset.

Selling drugs (ie: steroids etc) to kids?
And the potential video of seeing RoFo plastered and out cold while people wave guys around. (Or the numerous other sketchy ideas for the 2nd video.)

Gay porn?

(I know it was a typo and was supposed to be guns)

Well, we know there's something in it about Renata because one of the previous rulings kept information about her "personal issues" redacted.

I'm not sure where you're getting that idea from.

From the Star's most recent post:

A Superior Court judge has ordered all remaining blacked out information in a police document about Mayor Rob Ford and associates released.

The Star and other media launched a court battle in October and have since been fighting to uncover all of the censored portions of a police document that details an investigation into Ford, a video of him appearing to smoke crack cocaine, and friend Alexander “Sandro†Lisi.
