Knowing Rob Ford, he'll lock himself in his office bathroom before being dragged out by Mike Toolaram and escorted to Doug Ford waiting in the garage next to Ford's Escalade who finally loses his shit with reporters and punches one in the eye. For the next 3 years Rob will be outside on the traffic island at Queen and Bay banned from Nathan Phillips Square shouting conspiracy theories at cars passing by and sticking fridge magnets on as many as he can. Then one day, Ford mysteriously vanishes only to re-appear every 4 years to run in the municipal election coming 2 spots behind Kevin Clarke every time.

Because at this point there is nobody to blame but himself, and we all know that he could never acknowledge such a thing.

Once he figures out how to be the victim in all of this, the thought might cross his mind... for a very brief moment... one could hope.

OK - you know what, you need to read more critically and more carefully. Just because the article says that Ford wasn't mentioned by name in the surveillance reports of that day, it doesn't mean they did not see him.

Typical Police MO would actually be to use a code name known only to a select few people, for exactly this reason - it's another level of protection against leaks in high-profile cases.

I missed this as well. Could be a red herring, or lie out of fear. Y'know, cuz snitches be gettin' stitches. I always assumed it was both Price and Lisi.
 
While the report offers no details about the cellphone up for sale, it does give a time-stamped sequence of Siad’s movements:

2:53 p.m.: The police crew follows Siad as he drives from his apartment on Richgrove Dr. to the nearby Dixon Rd. highrises.

3 p.m.: Siad parks his black Honda Civic underground at the apartment building at 370 Dixon Rd.

3:12 p.m.: Detectives learn Siad is selling a cellular phone, not a gun.

3:30 p.m.: Surveillance is discontinued for the afternoon and officers attend a debriefing.

But why was the surveillance discontinued?
Were the cops called off because it was the phone, and not a gun?
Who called them off? Ford's friends (Traver?)
Apparently, the police knew of the phone video before this.
 
Before today, we knew that the video had been shot within six months of the Star seeing it in early-May. Today, we learned in the Poisson/Donovan story that the photo (and video) are "believed to have been taken in 2012."

The first snowfall of 2012 was on November 4th, but I don't believe that there was any accumulation. The kind of snow that accumulates (like in the background of the photo) didn't start falling until Nov 24th, which gives us a 5-week period in which it could have been shot.

I don't have any special insight, but I thought I'd point that out.

Connecting the dots, I personally think he's telling a white lie here and tipped the cops about his meeting. My impression is that Gawker knows more than they're writing about. They're not actively pursuing the story like The Star and the Globe are but they have some leads that might bust this thing wide open if they can convince one or more people to come forward with the video. It was through John Cook via this media source that I came to find out that the video was being copied and was getting into hands that could potentially put it online (Side note: I'm glad I can finally say that, I was getting heat for allegedly leaking Crown insider information -- I have none).

Following this lead, I was able to connect it to one person in particular who is known to use LiveLeak.com which is why I said to watch the site. Alas, it never did pan out but I'm holding out hope that it will eventually get copied by somebody who doesn't fear putting it online. It's outside the original group of dangerous people so I think it's only a matter of time before people lose track of who has it and who could have possibly leaked it.

I'm not usually able offer a lot of evidence to back up my claims because I'm protecting sources but this time I have photo evidence of that meeting with Cook:

I posted this yesterday, but I heard a rumour originating from the TPS that a number of officers were pulled off Project Traveller once Ford popped up in the investigation. Could be part of a plan at the time to tread lightly.
 
Thank you MetroMan! Have you heard anything about scripts being written? I imagine the info publicly available as of now could make a great "fictional" movie. I bet there's a movie in the works already.
