miWay Transit

Starting November, you can find out when the next bus will show up at X stop in real time, system wide using your phone, computer or tablet. You will see real time posted at CCTT in Nov and other location in 2017. You can bookmark your stop.

In 2017, you will see where all buses are on a route in real time as a tracker.

Buses out for tender now will not enter service until Jan-Mar 2018. It may happen sooner base on delivery.

Next batch of buses for tender will cover 2018 & 19.

For the next year or so, expect to find the wrong bus on various routes, as its either this or no bus at all. Since service is more important than the bus, you get what you see.

When the next 2 stations open in Feb 2017, they will use the grade level entrance/exit onto Eglinton between Orbtor and Renforth stations.

Don't know when, but a Transitway bridge is to be built over the 401 west of the 427 interchange to connect to the airport Enfield road to offer faster service to the new airport transit hub at the south end of terminal 1. The bridge is being built so it can be converted to LRT once Eglinton West Line is built and raise red flags. miWay will run route 100 on this Transitway until the LRT starts.

How do riders transfer from/to miWay/GO using a TTC route in Mississauga unless fare integration is in place so no extra fare is require to use a TTC line in Mississauga? Are TTC riders require to pay an extra fare to use the LRT in Mississauga?

When Renforth opens, I expect TTC stop servicing Mississauga and only connect to the new terminal that will have 1 bus bays for them in each direction.

As for the 5 year plan, its more a failure than an improvement, even going to a grid system. Some good changes, but more causing problems for riders.

Route 19 will not exist as it is today and being setup to allow the construction of the LRT in 2018. Utilities will be the first thing work on. Canceling 19c is fixing a mistake that should never happen on day one. Route 19 will only run between PC and Britannia and loop on the west side of Hurontario. 19A will run from the hospital to hwy 407.

109 is to see service every 12-14 minutes on Sunday. Same for 107. 103 will see 20 minutes. These are subject to change.

All routes are being review for stops to see which ones needs to be remove or relocated for safety reason and to speed up service.

January 2 service changes bring upon the next phases of MiWay Five. Winston Churchill Transitway Station begins being serviced by MiWay.

3 Bloor - Route 3 peak frequency is revised to 10 minutes (from 9 minutes) and midday frequency is 16 minutes (from 14 minutes) with 1 bus being removed from the route.

4 Sherway - Route 4 Midday frequency has improved to 25 minutes (from 36 minutes). Due to bridge reconstruction on Paisley Boulevard, revise routing to operate via Hurontatrio Street, King Street, and Camilla Road.

45 Winston Churchill - Extended weekday evening service

48 Erin Mills - Revised routing to serve Erin Mills Station

57 Courtneypark - New 6:41am trip from Meadowvale

66 McLaughlin - Route 66 peak frequency has improved to 10 minutes (from 13 minutes) and midday frequency is 13 minutes (from 16 minutes) with 1 bus being added to the route.

108 Meadowvale Business - New 6:00am trip from Islington

109 Meadowvale Express - New Sunday service introduced with 22 minute frequency using 6 buses. The Span of Service will be 7:30am to 11:00pm. Revised routing to serve Erin Mills and Winston Churchill BRT stations, no longer serving Erin Mills Parkway or Erin Centre Boulevard.

341 Ninth Line-Thomas - New school route serving Stephen Lewis and St. Joan of Arc and serving the Southwest area of Churchill Meadows (Eglinton/Ninth Line/Thomas area)

GO schedule changes - revised schedules and trip times on routes 20, 28, 32, 37, 44, 45, 49A, 64, 67 for GO connections

In the Mississauga budget (I don't remember which page), these are listed as part of the 2017-2020 infrastructure plan:
  • Interior clean lane at Malton
  • Downtown Transit Terminal
  • Pedestrian underpasses at major intersections and major terminals
  • Cardiff washroom construction
  • South Common Terminal refurbishment
  • New Meadowvale Satellite Garage projected for 2020
  • Anchor terminals/turnaround loops at two locations
  • Pavement treatment at terminals
  • Improve all bus stops to have rear pads
  • Malton public washroom

It been on death watch for years, as its only about 50% full these days, other than the pads. The pads are keeping it a float.

There is talks underway of building towers on the site.

It will be interesting to see how well Walmart does at South Common when the New Erin Mills Walmart Store opens this week. I found it strange that they would have 2 stores so close to each other, but time will tell if it stay or goes. It will go at some date when the redevelopment of the mall takes place.

Meadowvale is gone and Sheridan Centre is only a faction of what it used to be with no anchor other than Metro.

As for Ridership, I take MT numbers with a gain of salt. I just watch 7 #8 buses in a row, with one being an 60' that were mostly empty in the Valleys. 2 more years for the #8 as is.
 
The #4 gets improved service, still doesn't service City Centre.

Does anyone know why they seem to be less strict about MiWay/TTC borders than TTC is with YRT?
Couldn't someone take MiWay and start and end their trip in Toronto? For example, if you get on anywhere along Carlingview and are going to Humber College, its much easier to take the MiWay 107 than to walk over to Highway 27, cross the highway and take the 191 up there.
 
2017 will see 27 new Blue NFI buses starting service in Sept-Oct 2017.

2018 will see the first order of Nova Buses starting with 37 firm order of 40' and to be expanded to 52 base on funding done by normal tender. Nova Bus will be suppling 30 60' artic buses as well that did not go out for tender due time line for PTIF financing. As far as I know, the 40's will be local buses and no idea on the 60's. I am expecting the 60's to be a mixture of local and express buses starting around 1860.

As for the #4, why should it service City Centre when it never has nor there a need for it?? It already had its route change in the last few years. The goal is to remove routes out of the City Centre by going to a grid system.

As for the strict exchange with TTC, there is no place you can do a change with TTC without causing major disruption for MT riders and TTC couldn't deal with the ridership increase.

MT route 20, 76 & 26 could use the loop at Mills Rd requiring TTC to run buses every 7 minutes, but no place for the #3, 101 and #1 to loop. Rest of the routes use the 427 to get to Islington by Dundas. Other than a short section for 107 that in Toronto, most of it is in Mississauga.

MT is having its Islington lease extended until 2019/20 until Kipling is ready and will be paying more to do so.

Yep, this is the 47, Ridgeway Loop, all the over in Mississauga, Ontario.

To be honest with you, we assumed this was a “ha ha funny photoshop” but we’ve googled and it absolutely checks out.

Amazing detail, the urethra of South Miliway, the whole South Common of the glans, the shaft of Burnhamthorpe Road and College Road, and finally the twin testes of Unity Drive and Garthwood Road.

Spotted by Sam Carpenter who lives in the area.

Febuary 27 service changes will see various changes across the system.

1/1C Dundas

Weekday service on Dundas is being realigned to provide more express service (see route 101). Route 1 frequency will be changed as follows:

AM/PM peak - 12 minutes from current 10 minutes (-2 buses)

Midday - 18.5 minutes from current 14 minutes (-2 buses)

Evening - 19 minutes from current 14 minutes (-2 buses)

There are no changes to Saturday or Sunday frequency.

101 Dundas Express

As part of the changes to route 1, service on route 101 is being increased with better frequency and weekday evening service being introduced. Weekday evening service will run until around 11:00pm with 18-22 minute frequency. Frequency through the day will be as follows:

AM/PM peak - 10 minutes (no change)

Midday - 12 minutes from current 14 minutes (+1 bus)

New weekday evening service - 18-22 minutes (+5 buses)

There are no changes to Saturday service.

35 Eglinton

Additional weekday late evening trips.

45/45A Winston Churchill

Route 45/45A will serve Winston Churchill Transitway station. Despite what was publicly posted at the info sessions the 45A is not being eliminated and route 45 will continue to serve Plymouth and Bristol Circle. Route 45 frequency has improved as follows:

AM/PM peak - 15 minutes from current 17 minutes (+1 bus)

Midday - 21 minutes from current 30 minutes (+2 buses)

Evening - 31 minutes from current 45 minutes (+1 bus)

Saturday - 33 minutes from current 45 minutes (+1 bus)

Sunday - 30 minutes from current 45 minutes (+1 bus)

51 Tomken

PM peak service changed to 12.5 minute frequency due to added runtime (service reliability)

Route 51 Saturday frequency has improved to every 30-32 minutes from current 60 minutes. (+1 bus)

66 McLaughlin

Earlier Sunday service beginning at 8:00am.

71 Sheridan-Subway

Route extended to serve Plymouth Drive.

New to this particular thread so apologies if this has been discussed. Any idea when Orbitor and Skymark Hub will open on the Transitway?
