Another view, 1970's (the Elgin with a real marquee and canopy; Peoples Credit Jewellers with great moderne signage). Last gasp of the neon era.

Adams Furniture Store?

The Adams store was on Yonge street. That Now location you show was the old Eatons store location.

Now I didn't know that! I always thought that Eatons occupied that corner. Obviously Adams predated Eatons.

Imagine, buying jewellery on store credit. The germination of the economic crisis started farther back than we thought.

As Toronto's neon signage has become more rare, I'm reminded that Las Vegas' Fremont street has gone to great pains to maintain (or recreate, I can't be sure) their signs.

The good thing about the Elgin is, the theatre didn't turn into a multiplex unlike the Uptown and the Imperial.

Honestly can't confirm since the last time I was down there was nearly 6-7 years ago. It was more of a gardening center from what I recall.
