Home Grown Terror...

If you can't stand by your words, don't say them. It's a moderated forum, but a public one.

Haha, poor me!

The high level of force displayed at the police station only led to greater sensationalization to the point I almost wonder if it was one of the goals. Couldn't well positioned snipers which were less visible been used so that it doesn't look like the GTA is going down the tubes. That show of force at the station seemed so uncalled for. If there was a threat on the station surely they could have dealt with it in a more discrete manner.

These arrests are receiving a lot of coverage not just here, but on the other side of the border.

Actually, they've already been forgotten about. The US is only concerned insofar as future attacks on them are concerned. This incident has been used as an excuse to start discussion of "new terror attacks" in the US.

To be honest, no one is really concerned about what it's done Canada's image down here.

You mean restrict the local commander's options to either killing someone or giving them a complete pass? That doesn't sound very secure to me.

Of course the suspects are going to have a trial. But you already know that 95% they are guilty. And don't go sitting there being politically correct saying "oh well they probably are not". You know they probably are. And you can bash me all you want, but everyone on the street is saying the same thing.

What the hell does "95% guilty' mean? Mike, what makes you sure? Maybe one of them is only 73% guilty. Another may rate in at only 51% guilty. Others guilt/innocence may require regression plotting of some sort.

You might fail this math exam if you don't show your work. How did you come up with 95%?

Oh, and can you provide at least 95% proof (with verification) that everyone on the street thinks that the suspects are 95% guilty.

Well atleast I am waiting for the trial to fully believe they are guilty.

However from my observations on the streets of Scarborough, most people already think they are guilty.

Come on guys, cut the crap. You know most people on the street think these guys are already guilty. Maybe in your liberal downtown hood they are all thinking something else.

But come out to the out of downtown residential areas, and yeah most people already think these guys are guilty.

Actually I have yet to talk to one person yet that does not already think these guys are guilty.

Of course we need a trial. But if you don't think that the average joe already has their mind made up about this case, then you are mistaken.

Just what does what people on the street believe in has anything to do with whether these individuals are guilty or otherwise? Our legal system doesn't, and more importantly shouldn't function via the court of public opinion.

What you've said in this post and the one under General Discussions would be hilarious enough to be of Second City material, if you weren't actually serious about it.

AlvinofDiaspar how do you know I am totally serious. Yes I am serious about most people thinking these guys are guilty already. And why is it an issue to state that?? Of course they still need a trial like they deserve. But I am just stating that most people have their mind made up already.

And also do you actually think for a min I would actually want the gov patrolling schools, etc. I put those ideas out there as drastic measures of what could happen if terrorism got way out of hand in this country, or as a view to get discussion going. It does not mean I would support those ideas in principle. They are just ideas on different ways to solve the problems.

Funny thing is I don't believe you guys don't already have your mind made up on this case either. For sure you do. Everyone has a view, and you guys either think these guys are innocent or guilty already. The trial will tell us for sure. But you guys can't pretend you already have your views on this case to.

mike, I usually just ignore you rather than debate with you or address you directly, because I've never really seen any evidence that you have any thought processes at all. But don't you dare tell me what I have made my mind up on or not, I find that deeply offensive as are many of your comments on this thread.

Everyone else: maybe if we all pledge to ignore him he'll go away.

Mike:

I don't know about you, but I am getting a little too old for these mind games. If you want a mind **** (or want to mind **** someone), go elsewhere.

right hand in the air, left hand on a copy of The Death and Life of Great American Cities...

"I elook, pledge to ignore miketoronto in perpetuity. No replies, no responses, no debates."

Stop changing your tune. Your first post said Send them Home. Period. Your next post said only if they are guilty. Then you said 95% of them are guilty. And now you are saying you will wait.

miketoronto - I want you to listen for once. just this once. then you can go back to your safe little community of zero tolerance thinkers. NO ONE HERE HAS PROCLAIMED THEIR INNOCENCE OR GUILT (read the previous posts and find me one I beg of you) rather we acknowledge the charges against them and will reserve judgement until the trial is over (that's where the whole Innocent until proven guilty part comes in). Sure, we may all have our thoughts on wether they may or may not be guilty. The evidence is also pretty over-whelming AND damaging. What you continually fail to see is that the opinions of your friends, family, co-workers and now the suburb of Scarberia think has nothing to do with justice. It is not a "liberal" thinking thing like you seem to think it is. It is not a "politically correct" way of thinking like you seem to think it is. It is an understanding of the society we liive in and the rules that govern it.

You claim to be the most racially tolerant person on this board. :rollin and you may infact be tolerant but you spread fear when you talk the way you do.

Stop please stop. argghhhh, just stop already.
