Occupancy is now well underway at Phase 1 of The Residences at Central Park, as the first residents have begun moving into the completed 31-storey tower within Amexon Development Corporation’s 12-acre masterplanned community at Leslie Street and Sheppard Avenue East in North York. Designed by Core Architects, the development is introducing five residential buildings ranging from 12 to 31 storeys at the eastern edge of the Bayview Village area. Perched in a natural setting above the banks of the wooded East Don River ravine, the site is nonetheless within walking distance of Leslie station on Sheppard Line 4.

Looking northeast at dusk, the completed 31-storey Phase 1 tower features continuous balcony bands that wrap each floor-plate, their glass guards featuring a subtle, organic willow-leaf pattern that softens the rectilinear massing while referencing the adjacent ravine landscape. The tower’s corner glazing has illuminated suites and corridor lighting, creating a stacked lantern effect through the facade. At the crown, the mechanical penthouse is enclosed in darker cladding, reading as a distinct cap to the composition.

The six-storey podium’s south elevation is fully formed and clad, presenting precast panels framing balconies. Stacked terraces are defined by projecting slab edges and glass railings, with a step-back above the podium transitioning to the tower. Vertical glazing strips on the left are resolved in a continuous transparent spine above, while the ground level is articulated with darker louvre panels and glazing.

Inside, the spacious Phase 1 lobby reflects the project’s amenity-focused podium design, with high ceilings and full-height glazing facing the ravine. Warm wood panelled arches establish an interior colonnade, framing seating areas arranged across polished, stone flooring. The glazing system maximizes daylight and visual connection to the East Don River Valley beyond, while recessed lighting within dropped ceiling planes provides even illumination throughout the space.

Future phases will introduce one 19-storey and two 31-storey towers rising from a shared podium, approximately 35,000 ft² of retail and additional amenity space, plus a 12-storey building at the north end of the site. A continuous below-grade garage will be equipped with EV charging at every stall. At full build-out, the community will deliver 1,478 residential suites across all buildings. These phases will also complete Central Park Common, a three-acre landscaped open space featuring a central lawn, timber seating, a trellis pavilion, and pedestrian promenades, alongside a direct stair connection to the East Don ravine supported by slope stabilization and riprap reinforcement.
