I thought the glass was going to be clear.

None of the renders looked all that clear. I'm glad it's milky, it'll hide the dirt a little better.

Will they be keeping any of the original iron beams of the old roof?

I think it would be fairly pleasing to the eye if they were incorporated into the new roof some how. Possibly have the old beams lead out to the new open atrium train shed.

It would be a shame to loose a part of our history because we got a revitalized Union Station, hopefully if they do remove it all, it is incorporated somewhere else in the city. Distillery... maybe

Under the glassed area they are not keeping the iron beams. They are keeping 2/3rd of the train shed with I believe the two tracks closest to the building having the shed restored to its original state.

It looks like the glass has been cleaned up a bit at the south end - it looked sparkly, lucent and wonderful today in the sunlight. This cellphone pic doesn't really do it justice:

What's with the 4 panes of glass just below the roofline of the TD Centre's South tower? They throw off the uniformity.

It sure takes a lot longer to get off platform 24 in the morning rush than it did on other platforms.. hopefully there is still something blocked at the moment.

Some information from today's Star article:

When the York concourse — currently under construction — opens early next year, the Bay concourse (where the GO train ticket booths are) will close for its turn.
...
A new connection to the PATH system being built by the city will open at the same time off York St.

An interesting bit of information:

The last of the steel support columns on platforms 8 and 9 will go in by early July, with the atrium roof scheduled for completion by the end of next year. The full rehab of the 8.6-acre train shed’s roof won’t be done until the end of 2016.

I thought there are two more sets of support columns, one on platforms 8/9 and one on platforms 4/5, as seen here:

Yes, since the original shed roof above platform 3 is retained - it is not an issue.
