GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Hydraulic platforms anyone?

Gauntlet tracks?

From link.

This is one of those situations where it pays to wait and see what form the equipment will take (Single level? Two levels? Drop floors?) before rushing out with a decision that will be expensive to fix.

Dan

Just for fun.....next time you are waiting for a GO train, run your eyes over the platform and count the number of fixed items that would have to be relocated just to alter the height of that single platform....light standards, electrical conduits, manholes and utility boxes, shelters on foundations, handrails, not to mention staircases and elevators. Now multiply times the number of platforms in the network.

Not saying it can’t be done.... but is this where we want ML to be spending their attention and engineering and construction dollars right now ? Let’s build the network and look at this down the road after 2WAD is fully in place on more lines.

New Accessible ramp on track 4 at bramalea is completed. View attachment 227142
It maybe complete, but when will it see service??? Shot the station today and platform 4 is complete to the point is there elevators for it?? Hard to say if the existing location for the elevator has been reinstalled.

There are 3 trailer with structural steel and joist and could be for the west ends of Platform 2-4 that looks like they are ready for steel for elevators.

Platform 3 is about to be shifted east onto the new extension and it will have a temporarily platform that is in place now. Looks like platform 2 is going to be close to allow it to be rebuilt once platform 4 is back in service or use platform 3 until 4 is ready.

Weston Station
Shoring is underway for the new platform 1 that will be between the new track 1 and CP tracks. CP has reinstalled the 2nd track with hand throw switch and new signal mast. Once the new platform is built, going to have to renumber all the existing ones.

I think he means when the new renovated part of platform 4 will see service.
The whole platform has been rebuilt, not a section. If accessibility is required for those trains, has to be from the south platform as there is no access to the north side period, other than stairs at the west end.
