GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

There were plenty of good ways to frame this such as: Metrolinx partners with retail to help minimize fares.

Just when you think the minister can't sink lower - this is a pathetic waste of time:

Because apparently that's the only substantive transit (their word) issue around town.

And of course, here is your provincial news release which looks like something that was pulled straight from the Beaverton. Feel free to print this and wipe your butt with it...

Wow, this is even worse than I thought it would be. Did they seriously just put out a news release for a pilot project of putting a Tim Hortons kiosk in a GO Station? As in, it was NOT published in The Onion? Seriously. A single trial kiosk. Just, wow.

It's 4 GO stations, actually, but otherwise agreed.

Read the release wrong .. "the pilot program is expected to start later this spring at Oakville GO Station, followed by Clarkson, Ajax and Oshawa GO stations."

Oh, god. I just had a horrifying thought. Are there going to be press releases in Oshawa and Ajax, as well?

The Minister of Photo-Ops strikes again. Seriously, how low can this minister go? He's an absolute embarrassment and the fact that he probably had his staff working to organize this photo-op is an absolute waste of time and money

Especially when there are many truly urgent transit issues - big and small - facing the region. Accessibility to Tim (not coffee - e.g. Clarkson already has a cafe of sorts) isn't one of them.

this is a very good point...the "value" of this announcement diminishes further (as if it could) when you consider that coffee and snacks are already available at most GO Train stations.....it really was just a (mis)appropriation of a government official to do some ad work for Tim Horton's

What a ridiculous waste of everyone's time. This is the sort of information that you publicize by tweeting a photo of a new GO station Tim's when it opens - social media will spread it around just fine. See also the new Tim's opening in Scotland, ex-Canadians are going nuts about it on social media. Are we going to have a press conference for every new retailer that opens in a station? How about when we change contractors for a maintenance service, will that get a press conference too?

The cost of the Torbram Rd grade separation has increase for a number of reason was well not being completed until 2018 now.

This - and not double doubles - is where the Minister should be spending his time. The CN side of the project has gone much faster, even though the two Enbridge gas mains run along the CN line. I wonder how many change orders and requests for data CN issued compared to ML. And how much time the contracted field forces sat idle, chewing through money, while the ML office deliberated. Can't imagine that weather was a big contributor, considering how mild this past winter was.

Exactly. This is so small-town stupid, if you want to be world class then stop asking for applause 100 times a week.
