    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Rob Ford is no Glen Beck. Don't be ridiculous.

Best Way To Deal With Bedbugs?

Sorry about that. Could this thread be merged with that one. Again, sorry about making a new thread on this.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Why? Cutting fees and waste will re-vitalize Toronto. (By the way, I'm a big John Tory fan...but Ford is not the boogie man the media want you to think).

Best Way To Deal With Bedbugs?

I personally agree. The organization standing up to DiNovo is www.ontariolandlords.ca A non-profit, educational group. They support good tenants and good landlords...and come down HARD on scum on both sides...support them!

Best Way To Deal With Bedbugs?

I'm curious about potential solutions. In today's Toronto Star there there were several perspectives: http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/bedbugs/article/862349--bedbug-bill-would-force-inspections-on-landlords?bn=1

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

I'm not a Realtor. And I'm not a shill. There are many places I've had people attempt to get me to invest..and I ran away fast. So I can understand your comments. However, I have significant international investments and am very close with several important communities in the GTA...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

What a mature reply. Are you aware of global investment that is coming to Toronto/GTA?

Toronto is still cheap. With new global investment on the way, it won't be....

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

Fair enough and a good post. The end of the land transfer tax won't save the day. However, it WILL help. And you'd be surprised at how much pull the Mayor has. I don't support anyone in particular. I do care about the RE market and with rates set to rise we need all the help we can...

    Yes it would.

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

I hate politics, but Rob Ford will end the Land Transfer tax. That will help the Toronto RE market considerably.

Buying a Condo for Rent, best locations?

No damage deposits? While just about every other province has them. That's just the start of the list. 4-6 month evictions for non-payment. Private landlords are leaving the business in droves in Ontario (besides the downtown Condo market). Take a look at www.Ontariolandlords.ca...

    When will the market recover?

I hate politics. However, Mr. Ford wants to get rid of the land transfer tax. That would lift the market.

Buying a Condo for Rent, best locations?

Why a condo? You are in great competition with other condo owners. And, the laws in Ontario are very tenant-friendly....make that "bad tenant friendly" (and "bad landlord friendly"). It's a bad combo. With that purchase price target you could get a semi-detached outside of Toronto that would...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

Student housing is misunderstood and often overestimated. Prices are usually already very high. There is little room for any appreciation. And many of the properties are in bad shape. Furthermore, students often don't have guarantors, don't like to stay for a 12 month lease, and cause great...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

I believe that a "condo bubble" is very different than a general real estate bubble. Homes in the GTA are selling at very high prices and selling at a nice speed. Demand for rental properties are also very good, from Richmond Hill to Aurora to Newmarket. You never have a hard time finding a...

    Rental question -- appliances

I should have written new investors buying condos. Most places will come with appliances. However, there are people who are buying investment properties who don't want the existing older style fridges and stoves and want to upgrade to try to attract a higher paying or more qualified tenant...

    Rental question -- appliances

Hi bb2010, I have experience in this as a residential landlord. You will have a lot of room to negotiate if you are dealing with a private landlord. Some new condo investors likely will not have even purchased appliances and would be more than happy for you to supply your own. If the...
