Debate on the merits of the Scarborough Subway Extension

The corridor it self can fit 4 tracks, but existing placement doesn’t allow for that for in locations south of Ellesmere. They will need to stop service for construction. which will be deeply unpopular. Also, given frequency, they may likely require a 3 track corridor for ST and RER to operate...

Debate on the merits of the Scarborough Subway Extension

Only scarbrough will support the notion of removing 5 stations and replacing it with 1. Sometimes I feel that some people simply deserve what they get. The best way to do this was to simply retrofit the RT to modern standards, a solution that Vancouver had successfully employed for decades. The...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

SRT is line 3 Finch LRT shouldn't have a line number just like St Clair and Spadina do not.

or we could just call it line 6... just saying

Toronto Atria Condos (Alto, Trio, Parfait, Parkside) | 137.15m | 43s | Tridel | Turner Fleischer

THAT's why it looked different today when I drove by. This is turning out to be a nice development. That podium will contribute lots to an otherwise desolate streetscape. It's sad that all other projects in that area are probably on hold pending new secondary plans. Probably will help reduce...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

    1. Mass public transit lines are never financially good plans. If you build a mass transit line and it is instantly financially feasible, then it means your city has failed in every respect to provide transportation alternatives to the masses and that you have lost countless dollars in economic...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Why would anyone here believe that a PC government will spend any money into the relief line? If I look on the map, building the Sheppard subway will result in more seats won at a smaller cost than the DRL.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

This is an odd reply to a perfectly reasonable post. Which makes me wonder how much you're getting paid by Alstom.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

memory would also recall that TTC has slowed down streetcars on Queens Quay due to the dangers of the tracks directly adjacent to a bike/padestrian row.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

You have a awkward definition of works. In any sense this would be a text book example of a transit priority solution that didn't work.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The max capacity would decrease with Alstom trains. 1. Underground portion of Eglinton should be able to fit a 2 set articulated BBD tram. Total 200 meters. But it won't fit a 2 set Alstom tram. So 40 meters lost. 2. The trains may be too long to fit into far side intersection stops on the...

What have you been able to see exactly? I see a corrupt government agency ordering trains from a foreign company. Where does the increased comfort come from?

Metrolinx: Sheppard East LRT (In Design)

Spadina is the only dependable street car route to drive beside. If anything it's a stunning success. The only people complaining about the SELRT are the older generation who doesn't plan to take public transit on a regular basis ever again in their life time. The younger generation don't mind...

Um no? I'm not sure where you're drawing the similarities. The scotia bank building carries all the important characteristics and beautifying elements of an Art Deco building, whilst the Simpson's tower left out almost all of the geometric design features important in the brutalistic style.

I'm happy for the change. This was one of my least liked buildings in the core. This change doesn't turn it into an architectural marvel, but at least it no longer contribute to the bulb of beige concrete in that area. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the style, and I think the original...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

People of Scarborough are a fairly ironic bunch. I have yet to see any area or people turn down a piece of vital infrastructure as fiercely as these people.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

You can easily construct single column supports for double elevated tracks. It will only take up part of the centre turn lanes and still leave room for crossings.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

why can the DRL go elevated right after crossing the Don Valley? Given what's on Don Mills Rd, I don't see why we can't dedicate the entire western side (100% commercial until north of York Mills) to elevated guideways. The guideways can switch over to the centre of the road north of York...
