July brought waves of heat and development activity to Toronto’s skyline and transit network, with 'supertall' towers climbing higher and Eglinton Crosstown Line 5 advancing closer to opening. The Crosstown Line 5 West Extension tunnels reached substantial completion, while height was top of mind across several development stories, including newly revealed plans for one of Toronto's most ambitious redevelopment proposals at College Park.

At #11, our readers flocked to coverage of City Council’s July, 2025 rejections, where four high-profile proposals, each over 30 storeys, were denied zoning approval. While Council endorsed over 17,000 new units across the city that same month, in the north and east ends (coming in at #29), central and west ends (#37), and in settlements (#47), it was the 'no votes' story that captured by far the most attention. Hmm!
11. City Council July, 2025 Rejections: Four Towering Toronto Proposals Refused
Progress on Line 5 dominated our top stories list. At #1, Infrastructure Ontario confirmed the substantial completion of the Eglinton Crosstown Line 5 West Extension tunnels, while at numbers 2 and 7 was our coverage of the TTC's plans for its largest bus network overhaul in decades. The city’s tallest buildings continued their race skyward as we compared One Bloor West and SkyTower both at 85 storeys, coming in at #3, with another tower at Pinnacle International's One Yonge site also making the list at #5 when their application to boost it to 95 storeys was revealed. Bracketing these, GWL Realty Advisors (GWLRA) submitted sweeping redevelopment plans for College Park, including a proposed 96-storey supertall, taking places #4 and #8 in the list.

The brand new 83 Isabella Street Database File made its debut at #15 after placing #10 among July’s top news stories. The 70-storey rental tower proposed by Akelius for Church-Wellesley Village captured attention for its scale and its incorporation of the heritage-listed Merlan apartments, a 1927 Edwardian Revival building.
The top four database files held steady this month. Forma and Concord Sky remained fixtures in the top rankings at #4 and #3, respectively, as construction continues on both towers, and Forma's next phase is also planned as a 'supertall.' Meanwhile, the College Park redevelopment entered at #5 with its redevelopment plan for three towers, including its own 'supertall.' Eglinton Line 5 made a rare transit infrastructure appearance on the list at #9.

Our Top Ten Busiest Threads
At #12, One Delisle continued to draw strong interest as its unique geometry became more pronounced with each added floor. Designed by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang Architects with WZMH as Architect of Record, the 44-storey tower from Slate Asset Management is now receiving its distinctive cladding, earning a spot on our top 10 database pages this month.
Transit remained top of mind in July, with Eglinton Line 5 once again topping our busiest Forum threads as anticipation builds ahead of its long-long-loooooong-awaited opening. Pinnacle One Yonge and One Bloor West continued to hold strong at #2 and #3. The opening of Biidaasige Park, the city’s largest new park in a generation,
boosted the Ookwemin Minising Database file to number 4. The College Park redevelopment also entered the list at #8.
