Recently topped off east of Royal York Road on The Queensway in South Etobicoke, the 9-storey, BDP Quadrangle-designed Reina Condos from Urban Capital Property Group, is now also mostly adorned with its brick panel exterior. The project is one of many contributing to a gradual transformation of The Queensway corridor in this part of Toronto, where we find numerous developments both proposed and under construction.

Nearly 11 months have passed since UrbanToronto’s last update in September, 2023, when Reina was just beginning to rise above grade at the southeast corner of The Queensway and Penhurst Avenue.

In this view from Wesley Street in January, 2024, Reina features seven fully formed storeys. There is ongoing formwork on the eighth floor, noticeable on the building's right side. The south elevation exhibits a U-shaped massing, with step-backs starting above the second floor, offering terraces for residents on this side of the building. The tower crane is placed within the internal courtyard.

Captured in May, 2024 from The Queensway, this view southeast-facing view begins to showcase the curvature of the corners and of the balconies as the installation of white brick-faced precast panels then encased the first three storeys. Glazing efforts are evident along the second storey’s northwest corner. At street level, hoarding secures the site.

Looking east in June, 2024, this distant view showcases the topped-off 9-storey building. The tower crane, visible above the west arm, remains in place. The building's facade now features cladding up to the fourth storey and is also seen at the mechanical penthouse level.

Viewing the north elevation across The Queensway, an image from this month illustrates Reina’s signature undulating balconies. The installation of windows is largely complete, with grey spandrel panels accentuating the seventh-storey glazing. Some sections of cladding and glazing await installation on the eighth storey to the left.

As Reina Condos approaches its final stages of construction, it stands at a height of 30.95m and will add 200 residential units to The Queensway.

UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below. If you'd like, you can join in on the conversation in the associated Project Forum thread or leave a comment in the space provided on this page.
