Toronto is solidly in the eastern half of Canada, but much of its landscape is reminiscent of the Canadian Prairies or the American Midwest, featuring broad expanses of fairly flat topography, farmed before becoming subdivisions and industrial estates, and crossed by a gridded network of roads. That landscape is now changing again as low-rise buildings gradually give way to high-rises. In this image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor Justelena, two cranes are being employed in the construction of a new condo near Downsview Airport in North York, while silhouetted against the sunset in distance are the newly built towers of the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre area.
