Excavation has been moving full-steam ahead at the site of Reserve Properties and Westdale Properties' Untitled Toronto in Midtown. In our last update, boulders were being removed from the ground as the pit was being dug. Now, the rock is gone and dump trucks are removing excavate, which is being dug from the edges of the site inwards towards the existing ramp.

We can see in most of the images that shoring walls are in place along much of the border of the pit, seen partially covered with orange tarp. The walls have grown as excavation has progressed, ensuring that the earth behind them is held back. We can also see that the dewatering pipes that were beginning to be installed along the site's perimeter are now fully in place (partially covered by black plastic in the image below). These were installed with the purpose of keeping the pit dry throughout construction.

To portray how quickly things are moving on the site, we can compare the significant difference in trench depth in the image above, taken last Friday, November 19, with that of an image of the same area taken on Wednesday, November 24. Only five days apart, we can see how much deeper the trench has gotten — and progress is likely to continue at this speed, with the majority of the excavate comprised of a sand/earth mix, which is relatively easy to dig up.

Upon completion, the site will boast a 751-unit, two-tower residential condo development that will stand 21 and 33 storeys tall on Broadway Avenue in Midtown. Designed by IBI Group and U31, mutli-hyphenate artist Pharrell Williams was also engaged here to put his mark on the complex, the first housing development he has collaborated on. Also to be built onsite is the 36-storey 100 Broadway, which will replace all of the rental suites that were demolished on this site and one of Reserve and Westdale's other nearby developments. It will bring a mix of 200 affordable units, 165 mid-price units, and 48 market units to the area, as well as boast 16,000 ft² of amenity spaces for its residents.
