The area east of Wilson Station in northwestern Toronto is undergoing a mini-boom, with multiple projects bringing new life to former surface parking and industrial lands. Two of these projects, Rocket Condos and Southside Residences at Gramercy Park, are well into construction next door to one another, and will eventually contribute almost 800 new homes to the neighbourhood.

Closest to Allen Road, Rocket Condos from MetropiaShiplake, and Wise is a 14-storey, 291-suite west building and an 8-storey, 171-unit east building, designed by gh3 and CMV Group architects. The east building is a mixed-income rental. We last checked in on the project back in February, when the west building had risen four levels above grade and the east building had risen two levels above grade.

Returning to the site almost four months later, the buildings have made plenty of progress, now standing 11 and 7 storeys high. Cladding installation is also well underway for the taller building, with a window wall system now sealing off much of the lowest two floors.

Southeast of Rocket Condos, the second phase at the Gramercy Park development is being built immediately south of Malibu Investments' first phase that fronts on Wilson. The IBI Group-designed Southside Residences at Gramercy Park consists of 15 and 17-storey towers rising from a shared podium, containing 500 units total.

At the time of our last update in February, Southside Residences stood seven storeys above Tippett Road, with the first panels of precast concrete and brick cladding visible on the lowest levels. In the months since, the two towers have risen to just shy of their final heights. More brick and precast has been installed, along with the first panels of the window wall building envelope.
