What's the future for the Conservative Party?

LOL. This could be a fun week,
He's done for. And so is the Con party's chances of ever leading Canada. Harper, and Mulroney before him did it right.... you need to find a balance that appeals to western Canada, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. They need to do a Bill Clinton, where he assumed southern blacks would vote for him, so be campaigned to the rest of the USA. The Cons needs to assume the religious and nutbar right will either vote for them or spoil their ballots on the PPC, so forget them and run a campaign appealing to Quebecers, Atlantic Canada and the very few swing votes in Ontario and the west.

With their ethno-nationalist tendances, resource/mining and blue collar roots and focus on the family, Quebecers are politically close to the Cons. It's like African Americans and poor whites in the USA, they share so much demographically and socioeconomically and even religiously, they should be voting as a block. The Canadian Cons need to find a leader to once again build the bridges that Mulroney and Harper built.

Observing the Conservative Party is like watching a smouldering dumpster. It’s clear they have lost all consciousness of what makes them a Canadian political party and not one that is a off-shoot from the GOP. They adopt way too many ideas off of the GOP and it’s sad that they can’t see what is happening over the border. Even more sad is that they don’t immediately denounce anyone who marches around with a Nazi flag until the populi start criticizing.

I’ve always wondered if the Conservatives would be the same if Canada didn’t gain independence; continuing to follow the UK Tories. Anyways, this is a whole different bucket of fish.

So they're looking to hand Justin another win?

There's basically no good outcome for the party now. A slim majority win in this leadership review vote still cripples O'Toole and the party, but I think the dissenters don't care about that.

What they want is their own party again, where they can spout off whatever unhinged idiocy of the day will generate that sweet fundraising $$$$ in front of crowds like the truckers. Even if only a few thousand of them, you can soak up enough money to have a job for life as an MP, and do nothing of value but obstruct and whine about whatever the grievance of the day is for your clan. Or should I say klan.

A source said that it was the CPC vote with Trudeau to support a ban on conversion therapy that created the wedge between O'Toole and caucus, not necessarily the trucker rally.

If the CPC thinks they can win a majority by rolling-back LGBTQ votes, they are living in another century. They would get decimated and become a rump of a party with barely any support east of Saskatchewan.

From the news tonight, it sounds confirmed this vote is happening tomorrow.

Never say never, but Alberta NDP is not the same creature as federal NDP.
It’s true. And having a leader that is a visible minority with an overtly non-Christian religious appearance, a hailing from Ontario’s GTA, the federal NDP won’t appeal to many rural, western CPC voters. I wonder if any of that crossed the mind of the NDP leadership committee back when Singh put his name into the ring.
