Sports equipment - Baggage allowance | VIA Rail

We allow travellers to carry sports equipment on certain trains. Here is the list of sports equipment allowed as baggage.

Boards are permitted beyond the standard allowance, provided there is space available on board.

Fee: $25

* The maximum length for boards is 203 cm (80 in)

  • Boards must be transported in a rigid or soft-sided container.
  • Boots bag can also contain equipment such as helmet and goggles.
Please note that the bag containing sports equipment cannot be used to carry clothing or other personal items.
Additionally, this item must not exceed 158 linear cm (61 linear inches), with linear dimensions calculated by adding the length, width, and height.

Thanks everyone. I did discover the baggage FAQ earlier today, but wasn't sure how (or if) I could specify the snowboard through the online booking system, so I did end up just giving them a call to book through an agent. They were great on the phone with a hold period that was no longer than 30 seconds, and I'm all booked and happy.
 
Anybody know if there is single tracking between vaudreuil and coteau? On train 35 and we just stopped in vaudreuil with an announcement that we are waiting for train 62 to pass and that it’s a normal procedure. It is double track all the way to coteau… A venture set passed in the other direction at about 13:50.

I know a few months ago they were working on a different section where we had to wait for a freight to pass. That was closer to Cornwall though. So, they may be doing track work.

Coteau only has a platform on the south track. So train 35 may have had to wait for train 62 to pass to cross to the south track to serve Coteau.
 
Another VIA consist crapped out near st Mary's. They were able to get customers to London so they could be bussed to Toronto.

Are the HEP systems compatible? Since they cannot be MU'ed the F40 would need to tow the Siemens set. At least there won't be any shunt issues.

Also not all of the 6400's are able to go backwards at full speed.

Is it not possible to add a HEP generator in the locomotive? I understand this is a temporary measure until the kinks are worked out.

What type of loco is a 6400? P42, F40 or Charger?
