Well they are supposed to drive with the forks up, but they are supposed to put the bin down first.

Maybe garbage trucks, but I was referring more to these and such. I could be wrong but I really don't see any reason why they would ever need to be able to drive with the bed raised up high like that.

The fund from which it has been awarded won't even exist until 2026.

But there is a binding commitment, in writing that the funds are coming, and the feds have a clear understanding the tender is out the door in good faith that that is the case.

okay but future governments aren't bound by previous governments spending. they can and probably will revoke the funding.

Wasn't there that outcry a while ago about how cities wanted the government to give the funding early because of the election?
I fail to see how this is absolute guaranteed.

Yes, it's not the most politically controversial, but neither is the HFR project and that's probably getting canned too

Why? What reason do they have to want to do that? How would that give PP better PR than JT?

But they can be forced to stick to payment schemes that were finalized prior to election (I've already quoted that post on the previous page and won't directly quote it again, to save OP an extra notification).

True, but both Ford and Smith will throw a fit if CPTF funding is cancelled as it would directly impact their own promises; that adds considerable pressure within the party to maintain it. As such, I think it's pretty safe for capital purposes. I could see it being renamed and repackaged to include a component for small towns (bridges, trails, etc.) similar to Harper capital programs, but it'll be hard to reduce the spending directed to Toronto/Calgary/Edmonton.

Incidentally, Ontario got a ton of small town hiking and cycling networks out of the Harper funds as they generally had enough to build a pedestrian bridge or resurface an old railway line but not enough to build a roadway bridge.

This is literally one of the most agreeable things Trudeau ever decided to spend money on, and it directly involves Canada, unlike the numerous times money was thrown out the window for some "charity" on the other side of the world that had nothing to do with Canada.

I don't (when conditions are bikeable), but if the bike lanes are removed, then yes we probably will

New trains are not optional.

The existing trains are approaching end of life.

A rebuild will cost almost as much as new and would only buy a few years.

Congestion is a serious issue............

Yes, it is ridiculous! If one is on an eastbound 501 and wants to transfer to a 504 at Church (50 yards south) to go to Distillery, one has to go all the way north to Queen and walk back. I generally support the TTC examining (and reducing) the number of stops but ...

If a computer can prevent a TR from driving with an open door, I see no reason why it can't prevent a truck driving with a raised bed either.

Operators will jury rig the sensor after a glitch so that they can continue working, and once it's disabled it's forever disabled. This is the way...
