TTC: Other Items (catch all)

What difference does it make? It's not as if train has an independent supply of air. Sooner or later everyone would be inhaling smoke. I'd be worried about escaping a potential fire.

Unless the train is on fire, there isn't any reason to start with the useless heroics and endangering yourself and others.

Where there is smoke, there is fire. If you see smoke there is likely a fire. Just because you cannot see flames underneath the train or inside an electrical panel does not mean it is not flaming.

Also don't forget - the lights supposed to have gone out in that train. Smoke and darkness will make people go into flight mode. Coupled with the frankly lackadaisical communication TTC is known for I am not inclined to blame anyone for doing what they did. As to fires of significance - there was also a fire at College at the (northern) end of the station about a decade ago that lead to some ceiling damage (that wasn't repaired for ages).

It's not about "heroics", it's about not wanting to become a skeletal remain while waiting for the TTC to figure out what's going on.
Look up 'DRL' if you need.

It is interesting that many pass calm judgement on the reaction of others faced with a frightening and unfamiliar situation from the comfort of a keyboard, As several have mentioned, the action is not necessarily condoned as it is understood. Absent training, the survival response is visceral, not rational.

Except they don't there are some lights above the doors that stay on. I was on a train Monday morning that lost power in-between Chester and Pape. The driver of the train was able to cost the train into Pape so that people could get off the train if they needed to.

Yes but it is not that much lighting, I have been on a train where the power went off. When the lights go out the feeling is the same.

I could not find the list of scheduled closures referenced in item 15.

Anyone have a proposed list of closures?

Found an error in their service plan on page 54. Whoever wrote the document mixed up the Dundas BRT and the Durham-Scarborough BRT. Or perhaps the graphic design team at the TTC are trying out a new design choice, who knows.

As expected, most of the future expenses are unfunded in the plan. Not sure if John Tory's new tax hike will put a dent in the unfunded list. Hopefully, the federal government can kick in some money. I doubt the provincial government would be throwing in any significant amount anytime soon considering they are paying for the city's share of their transit plan.
