TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Oh!! look at Ford ridding the subway.

Unless Ford fund other transit projects in Toronto, other than subway if he up loads the subway system, we are screw 100% until he is gone as well the PC.

Experts fear for Toronto’s long-term transit plans if province moves to upload parts of the TTC

"Ridding" might be right. "Ridding" is defined as "make someone or something free of".

BTW. The photo is from 2014.

Unlike John Tory, it's a rare event that would get Doug Ford to use public transit. People have to take a photo to prove that Doug Ford was on public transit, even if it was just a photo op.

So the 514 will get chopped and 504 will split to have one go from Dundas West to Distiallergy, and the other 504 go from Broadview to CNE.

This is completely retarded but then again the 514 was merely an effort in placation. Byford and the gang needed to improve service (and look like they were doing something) so they pulled the 514 out of their collective asses.

I think this makes a lot of sense. Nobody's taking the 504 streetcar from Broadview & Gerrard to Roncesvalles & High Park, so having the same streetcar run the full route isn't helping anyone. Splitting up the route lets the TTC keep more of the service on King Street, and also increases service down Cherry Street (the 514's service was awful).

From Steve Munro:

In October, the TTC will make the summer route split permanent and will operate two separate routes, both under the name 504 King:
  • 504A will operate from Dundas West Station to Distillery Loop
  • 504B will operate from Broadview Station to Dufferin Loop
Would have been better if the 504A KING had just went 514 CHERRY, operating from Dundas West Station to Distillery Loop, and the 504B KING had went 504 KING, operating from Broadview Station to Dufferin Loop. Having two King streetcars operating different routes could be confusing.

Though they could then have a 504C KING operating between Dundas West Station and Broadview Station, as a tripper. Now that would really confuse everyone.

Why do you say its' retarded? Frankly it sounds pretty sensible to me as it will provide decent service from Dundas West to Cherry and Broadview to Dufferin and excellent service from Dufferin to Cherry, the busiest part of the route - by far. It will allow someone to get on streetcar at a subway and go right through downtown and I strongly doubt many people take a streetcar from west of Dufferin to east of Cherry (or vice versa).

This is why they have different letters!
Expect they don't use them on the signs for the streetcars like they do for buses.

This sounds ridiculous and will, just cause more people to wait if they get on the wrong car or get annoyed becuse they don't see the one they want coming.

Surprised?

This is the same transit agency that has now made the 501 split permanent. The TTC service in Humber Bay Shores is now at a level worse than in the mid 90s, with about 25,000 extra people. Getting rid of the 508 was also 'temporary' but here we are.. Three years on.

The TTC is a mafia.

They've had different letters all summer - but I'm yet to see a streetcar or bus showing anything other than 504 with the electronic signage.

It's not unusual for the 504 Distillery Loop to be delayed eastbound by customers at Sumach and King, asking if it's going to Broadview Station. Which I thought we'd have seen the end of with the new streetcars - turns out you can block the door from closing and talk to the driver a the same time ...

There's still 5 extra trippers running from Long Branch in AM peak - but they've been running down Queen Street instead of King Street for quite a while. Not sure that makes sense with the King Street Pilot working so well. Though they are being temporarily suspended again in September, because of streetcar shortages, according to the TTC Coupler:
