I think they did.
The 504 delay near Parliament was at Sackville. When I walked past there at 12:00 PM a TTC Supervisor was there attending to it.

Looks like a TR set picked a switch in davisville yard causing it to derail.
I'm no expert but it would have been a good idea to clear the snow around the point to prevent this from happening. Hindsight is 20/20.

You would be surprised at how little snow and ice is required to leave a gap in the points, even after sweeping. Considering conditions at the time, the switch may have been well swept, but even a little further snowfall, or just the vibration of the train going over the switch, can still make things happen, unfortunately.

Going past Davisville it looks like they shoveled the snow by hand. No wonder why it took so long.
Also line 1 South of Eglinton to Bloor, the whole section is basically a slow zone. It's double the normal travel time.

Taking some images from his site, we can see that many areas have been speed restricted for over a year (which is absolutely laughably embarrassing). And many of these same areas wont be fixed until the spring/summer which will have these issues ongoing for 1.5 years which is completely unheard of and unacceptable.
It leads me to the question of why the TTC didnt shift their maintenance schedule and focus more on addressing the issues in the open cut sections during the summer months, while doing the tunneled sections during the fall/winter. I'm sure the availability (or lack there of) of the maintenance fleet played a role, along with the previous idiotic CEO who was confused soul, but it's a question that's worth posing.

In fairness, the Mayor cannot be everywhere and that is why we have a TTC Board. At least until recently, most of them were non-questioning and submissive sheep.

In the end the buck stops at the mayor. If the people tasked with running that department, they should be replaced.

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is currently searching for a new CEO. The TTC's search for a new CEO is international and can take at least six months. Gregory W. Percy is the interim CEO of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). He was appointed on September 9, 2024.

Maybe he wanted to educate the users of Urban Toronto (UT) that TTC stands for Toronto Transit Commission, because clearly people on this Urban Toronto (UT) forum would not know that.
