TTC: Major Operational Issues (Various)

It seems there’s another slow zone this week from Sheppard to York Mills. Yet no update on the website.

This is infuriating. A 30 minute trip now takes closer to 50 minutes from Sheppard to Union.

I rode the subway to North York for the first time in a while this weekend and was pleasantly surprised that all the slow zones going north seem to be gone. Probably the first time there's been "normal" travel times here since 2023. Going south was an absolute slog though.

I really hope the two long slow zones in the North Yonge section are just for the duration of whatever project the TTC is doing in it's early closures north of Eglinton and thus will be gone soon.

Hallejujah! The Lord is good, divine intervention came through, after more than 1 year the northbound slow order between Bloor-Yonge and Rosedale is finally gone...for now:

Was on the 504D trying to get from Bay to Ontario yesterday. The bus diverts down Yonge and across Front. Getting across Church was slow as expected but Jarvis was ridiculous (left there to make a right on King), at least four light cycles to make the left. There should be a traffic director there pronto to ensure enough traffic can make the left to keep the buses moving.

The 504 bus isn't too bad in the morning (adds maybe 5 minutes vs when it was running straight along King), but I wouldn't even consider taking it at afternoon rush hour. From Bay to Ontario, I'm almost 100% certain it would be roughly as fast to walk.

The running stats would tell you that, but I guess nobody bothers to check.

I’m taking the streetcar today because I’m not really in a rush, and there’s a fleet of tow trucks clearing Adelaide between Yonge and Church. Good job!

Pretty much the only time I recommend anyone take the streetcar in Toronto, because they do a great job at getting people anyway late and behind schedule.

On paper… Was there every day this week, and it’s indeed still there (and in fact the slow zone is for a longer portion of track than was the case a month ago).
Indeed, at this point I think they just want to make it a main feature of using the subway so travel times can just keep getting worse and worse.

Looks like the TTC's recent track geometry survey is leading to even more slow zones. This is just a dog chasing it's tail situation at this point:

Which begs the question what's the point of all of these weekend and early night closures if they aren't fixing anything? Why inconvenience people when no progress is being made?
