TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Are the ALRV'S being retired ? There were only 2 in service when I last checked, both on 501 Queen.
The tracker shows only 11 cars, with 2 (4216 & 4229) on 501 at this time. One 4212 is at Hillcrest last seen 16 days ago, one 4243 at Roncy, one 4217 at the Barns that was last seen 17 days ago and the rest at Russell last seen a few seconds ago.

At the rate they are dieing, will be gone before the year is out.

I have heard there is a charter tour schedule for Aug, but no info on it.

As a note, 4483 is a dot operating on 510 and confirm it went into service yesterday.

4485 is in the lake and no confirm info if it is in service yet.

4486 in the service bay along with 4488. 4487 out in Long Branch doing testing. Nothing for 4489 at this time.

They are literally crumbling apart as we speak. It's getting to the point the buses have started to supplement streetcar service on the 501 since there are not enough streetcars available.

4486 testing northbound on Spadina right now. It has a huge “pay here” decal slapped on the side of a the S&B fare machine where it says fare/transfer. Don’t know if any other car has this.
EDIT: here’s a horrible photo of it

4489 is now tracking

The tracker is showing only 19 ALRV's, with 2 haven't been seen for 20 days. One on 511 and 3 on 501.

Anecdotally, I can tell you about 50% of the streetcars I see on Queen now are ALRV, which is down obviously from then it was 100%.

But no, they don't have buses running to supplement streetcars on the 501. My office literally looks out onto Queen West. I've seen none since they stopped running the 501L for Long Branch, when they were rebuilding the Humber loop and bridge. It's now 100% streetcar from Long Branch to Neville Park.

That's nice, I live along Lake Shore where I can anecdotally tell you that they have been running buses to supplement streetcars at various points in the day and at night, so no it is not 100% streetcar. The number of bus runs vary everyday, sometimes there are 4 out at any given point, other times there are 7, next moment there are 9. It really depends on the day, time and section of the route.

And no, 50% of the streetcars operated on the 501 are not ALRVs. At this point if there are ~20 ALRVs left, and more than 150 CLRVs left, just do the math.

There have been only two Flexities shipped since the July 1 long weekend. One - likely 4490 - arrived this week, while the second (4491?) is about to or has just left Thunder Bay.

The problem is when you are on a ALRV that short turns and all that is behind you are CLRV's .... considering the ALRV's are so rare now I think it's time to just to take them out of service permanently.

Far less than that, anytime I've checked. Right now, there's 26 CLRVs, 2 ALRVs and a bus - see http://webservices.nextbus.com/service/publicXMLFeed?command=vehicleLocations&a=ttc&r=501&t=0

Noon yesterday there were 35 CLRVs and 5 ALRVs.

Less than that. The last TTC service summary reported as of June 8th, there were only 125 CLRVs.

Only 17 ALRVs have shown up on the tracker recently - and 4 of those aren't currently tracking.

Only 122 CLRVs have shown up on the tracker recently - and 7 of those aren't currently tracking.

4485 is sitting on track 3 in the yard and ""MAYBE"" in service Wed after been here 20 days.

4486 is out testing.

4487 & 88 out in non TTC land.

4489 in service bay

.4217 is one of the few ALRVs that have still been seeing regular service
.4220 has been sitting at Leslie Barns for some time now (retired)
.4211 has been gone for almost 3 years now

4490 was supposed to off loading today at Hillcrest. 4491 Due next week.

Next car that should see service would be 4487, since it arrived a day before 4486 and has done more testing as well. Using the current 20 day cycle from delivery to service, it should enter service today, but not close to that point as its out in lake Ontario.

4486 & 88 out in Long Branch

4489 in Mississauga

Now what cars are we going to see heading east to Quebec??? 4408 is a good case to go, since it need major repairs.

Looks like the issues with the GPS has been fix, as 4470 was still on a bus route on Monday, but currently sitting the service area of the yard.

As a note, Edmonton received their new car from Kingston a few days. All KW cars should be out of Kingston early Aug and starting opening space for more cars to be built.
