TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

St. Claire is next
Will happen once St Clair W Station Loop is rebuilt.

4401 has left Hillcrest property and should be on its way to Thunder Bay tomorrow, depending on CP. No date as to when it will return nor 4466. 4403 was used to push 4401 onto the flat with pan up.

According to BBD personnel, they are expecting 4477 today in Toronto and off loaded tomorrow.

According to the chart from Steve Munro's blog, St Clair Q3 this year (which presumably includes the loop rebuild and the overhead work scheduled to end in August), then Bathurst Q4. Whether there will be enough Flexities to fully equip 511 by then, of course...

TTX 932335 Is the flat car carrying 4401 back to Thunder Bay. SOO 51318 and CP 315 284 are the idler flat cars. Lots of photos being taken by TTC while the car was being loaded as well before the car was pushed onto the car.

The car was very scrip of parts and lights. The pole was tied down to a bar on the roof with wire and tape.

Various jacks were used to lift the flat to the correct hight.
Photos to follow

Operators switch from pole to panto upon entering service on Spadina northbound at King Street or southbound on Queen Street, depending on the routing from the carhouse.
When leaving service from Spadina, all cars route via Charlotte Loop and switch from panto back to pole.

You may have seen the pole back up midday yesterday due to a couple of incidents on the route. Generally, if there's any diversion in place, operators are required to switch to pole until the incident is clear - this reduces the risk of a streetcar operating panto where the overhead is not converted.

4477 and 4478 are enroute to Toronto now on the same train, saw pictures in a railfanning group on Facebook. Pictures were from Monday (and location was described as both Moonlight and Sudbury?), so they should be here soon.

Moonlight is a road in Sudbury - it cross two tracks of CP.. The road at that point is for solely accessing Moonlight beach - a beach on Ramsay Lake's Eastern End. Now that would be a neat picture - seeing the streetcars on a CP train where the tracks run alongside Ramsay Lake.

If 4477 & 4478 are on TTC property by Friday, that leaves 34 days to ship 9 more cars, with 4487 being the last one to meet Q2 schedule.

Looks like July could be the month that 512 is all Flexity

All low-floor arrivals through to September will be deployed onto King to continue to equip that route. 512 will continue to operate all off-peak service with low-floor vehicles (15), with 9 CLRVs supplementing AM peak service. In September, the 512 will be converted to a full low-floor schedule.
