TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Where are they? Were they taken today?

There's some indication overnight of a mechanical issue with the flatcar that should be carrying it in Thunder Bay.

Photo is dated yesterday, on Canadian Train Sightings on Facebook. I have asked for permission to crosspost.

The adjacent idler flat is CP 315215 and the transporter flat appears to be TTIX 156393

Oh, it's TTIX 158091 that has the issue, not TTIX 156393, which hasn't been released yet.

I wonder at what point they are going to need more than two transporter flat cars.

So delivery next week sometime probably. Over 40 days since previous delivery (wince).

As CP 315215 and TTIX 158091 are now somewhere east of Schreiber, and TTIX 156393 is still in Thunder Bay, then it appears the transporter flat car is 158091 not 156393. Can't really tell from the photo.

So delivery on Monday or Tuesday I'd guess. 41 or 42 days since previous delivery. At that rate we'll 12 in service by end of the year, not the 16 most recently promised.

Found this video on youtube of Berlin's M10 line. I didn't know where else to put this as it sort of touches on on-street boarding and modern LRVs running as streetcars.

In the above video, a few points:
  1. passengers press a button on the outside door to open them
  2. single, not double traffic lights. (Nearside, not farside of intersections).
  3. unique traffic lights for transit.
  4. unique left turn arrow with a stop light.
  5. lack of signage, cleaner look

There's no mainline rail line at Leslie, so they'll still need to be sent to Hillcrest I assume
There's a rail line along the west side of Leslie. Pretty hard to miss when you drive down Lake Shore or Commissioners. But no plans to put a spur into Leslie Barns. Presumably they'll continue to offload at the brand new ramp at Hillcrest.
