Transformation AGO (5s, Gehry) COMPLETE

Several of us are going to the preview on Sunday - come rain or shine - so you can count on that.

I imagine there will be huge crowds on Sunday, but I don't care. Like you, rain or shine, line-ups or not, I will be there too. I've waited too long for this!:)

Yes, I miss Augustus John's Marchesa Casati and her bright red hair something fierce.

Fortunately, she's not part of the AGO's provenance study, though one or two of my other faves ( a Chagall, the Degas Woman at Her Bath, a Leger, Picasso's La Soupe, a Ribera, a Sisley, and that 17th century Dutch thing with all the dead animals ) are. I hope none of them get yanked away and repatriated. Having been a visitor to the Gallery since 1970 I feel like they're old friends.

Bravo features Transformation AGO

November 7, 2008

Don’t miss Bravo’s Arts & Minds special this weekend, which highlights the Transformation AGO expansion project. You can catch it on Saturday, November 8 at 6 pm, and again on Sunday, November 9, at 7 pm. Repeats of the show will be aired again after the opening.

On this special edition, host Seamus O'Regan takes viewers inside the newly redesigned AGO before it opens to the public on November 14.

Arts & Minds is a weekly arts magazine that explores the creative process - in rehearsal, in the studio, on-stage, backstage and on the road.

Thanks for the heads-up, Mystery Man! I'll be sure to watch.:)

Egad! Are you a Marchesa fan too! I used to make a point of visiting her portrait every time I visited the AGO. It's funny how many special items there are in the collection and how much I've missed them. Have you read her bio "Infinite Variety"? There's a good web site devoted to her:

Great site. We flame-haired beauties must stick together. Didn't know about the book - will check it out.

We own all this art, collectively, as residents of Ontario so it's nice to drop by now and then and get to know it better. Same goes for all that ROM stuff.

Just walked by site. Does anyone know if the beams supporting the glass fins on other side of the windshield will be covered. This looks very unfinished and like a tack on. Terrible!

What is the status of the cement pillars. Will they be clad?

Gehry on The National

Tonight, The National also did a story on AGO with an interview with Gehry and some eye candy sprinkled in which looked great in HD.
The broadcast should be up soon on CBC's website:
