As a resident of 2 Forest Laneway I have been watching this redevelopment with great interest. Looking at the floor plans there are quite a number of stores which are still available to lease and there are no clothing stores so far. The spaces are of various size, but nothing large enough to attract a better "anchor" than Winners. I am pleased to see that Rio Can has not followed some other malls like Aura's ludicrous basement or the dismal Emerald Park, both of which have the tiniest stores, so there is still a chance that this mall might be more than a food court, but it's looking less encouraging every day. Two stores that may provide something a little upscale are W & B Home and Mimso Home, but I'm not really familair with either. If we could just get the LCBO to open here that would be great (for me anyway). The progress of this redevelopment seems incredibly slow. I enjoy reading other people's comments about this.

New anchor should be Longo`s when they open next year.

Retail in Aura, EmeraldPark & World On Yonge are really different animals; those Developers maximize their profit per square footage by partitioning retail space into PacificMall cubical stores to sell. That's also why they like building all those tiny condo units! It's Wham-Bam-Thank-You-Maam.

RioCan will be keeping Yonge-SheppardCentre retail units and apartment units for themselves to rent/lease out; so it's in their own best interest to design and build good quality otherwise they'll be shooting themselves in the foot later! RioCan build regular size retail units since they mainly deal with brand name retailers who they'll build up relationships at multiple RioCan sites VS smaller mom&pop type store that are more likely to belly up,...

BTW, Miniso isn't upscale,... really just another dollar store And LCBO, locally,.... is now more focused on litigation,... just like everything else at EmeraldPark
