Toronto Yonge Sheppard Centre Renovations and Expansion | 123.13m | 35s | RioCan | BDP Quadrangle

It's looking like post-renovation Union subway station.

It's not terribly different from their Yonge-Eglinton renovation:

I think it's just the "sleek, modern" sort of design that everyone loves nowadays. Not that different from most new condo units.

Looks like the walls in the completed sections will be temporary ads for incoming stores. They're easy to peel off. Purdy's chocolates and ice-cream ad went up today. Can't wait for the opening.

The old parking deck has become a staging area for concrete forming supplies. Concrete cutting continues to enlarge the opening and forms are being placed to pour columns and a stronger deck to support the heavier new structures. Steel floor decking panels are in place followed by mesh reinforcing panels in the Longo's structure. First concrete pour for the floor was done today and finishing was done by a state of the art twin 4 blade trowel machine with a seated operator. (
)
Old school had a worker on foot operating a single 4 blade trowel which took much longer to smooth the concrete.
Forms and rebar are ready for a concrete pour for a Longo's elevator shaft.

I'm guessing that it's just a cosmetic thing. The 1980s concrete colour isn't going to match well with whatever the Longos and LA Fitness look like.

Sheppard Centre was built in the mid 1970s.

They are painting the building black right now.. Hmmmm

It's an office tower not a night club,... there's no plan to paint it black. The stuff they're using is just a black rubbery waterproof sealant (Tremco ExoAir230) likely just local to that part of the building due to machinery going onto that floor or exterior signage

View of Sheppard frontage including completed townhomes. They are putting the black sealant on the Sheppard office tower today (no photo).
