I'm definitely getting the stripper vibe from this reno.
I think sometimes we just need to let go and embrace the tackiness instead of being critical of everything.
I have a real soft spot for the Yonge Eglinton Center (I grew up there) but it's never been able to get its act together. It's always just a mishmash of not quite cool stores. Never a destination, more of just something you pass through on the way in or out of the Subway. Kind of like a friend of the family that tried to be hip, but couldn't pull it off.
Agreed. I went to high school nearby. Its also the victim of too many renovations put on top of a fairly small plot of land. As a result its literally become a Frankenstein of a centre with different pastiche elements from different decades. 70's apartment buildings, early 90's "entertainment" centre PoMo and now millennial glass chic. The actual mall flow is still a mess and probably will never change.
Ah well - it successfully serves a purpose without being too distractingly suburban.
