I'm trying to picture how this building is going to work with the UPX. It looks like it will effectively block off the west and north street entrance.

If you're approaching from the west or north, I guess you have to go all the way around the block down York street and that will be the only street entrance to the UPX? Likewise if you're exiting, you have to go out through York street.

Doesn't seem very accessible or pedestrian friendly.

FYI they are calling it UPe now ;) (Union Pearson express)....saw their president speak a couple of months ago and by de-emphasizing the express with a non-capitalized e they are hoping the UP part becomes a creator of real positive thoughts/feelings.

Why would this building diminish access to the UPX (UPe is pure idiocy from marketing pinheads) in any way? The PATH Skywalk will continue through this building as it does through the space now, and that's what UPX connects to.

It's pretty clear from the plan. It blocks off station street.

access to the skywalk is still there, the route to the UPX station remains, if not the direct route to Union station. there is an access staircase in the new building which will replace that little red staircase that exists today.

You enter the building off Simcoe, turn left up the escalator or further into the Simcoe lobby turn left into the bank of elevators and go up a level, walk to UP Express. Doesn't seem any more difficult than now.

Good thing DMW didn't get his way otherwise they'd have to call it JAMPe or something like that.

Seriously? You wouldn't feel embarrased to give these directions to a tourist to find a major transit station?

Y'all need to look at the plans again. The only west entrance will be through the lobby of this building. It's a significant barrier for anyone unfamiliar with navigating the area.

Tourists everywhere have to navigate to get to train stations, airports, etc. They follow signs. There'll be signs for them here too, and they'll be led through something that looks a thousand times better than Station Street does now, and they'll do it in climate controlled comfort.
