Toronto U Condominiums | 183.79m | 56s | Pemberton | a—A

So it's Pemberton is it?

After years of PoMo crapshack suburban slabs, they're really trying to prove themselves worthy with Uptown, with it's retro-deco architecture, and now this. Huh. While we still have wait to see if they can pull Uptown off, they are launching into their most architecturally forward project with "U", finally hooking up with firm-du-jour aA.

Meanwhile, with X a half kilometre or so to the east, we have the makings of Toronto's version of New York's Alphabet City. We complain a lot, but maybe calling condos U and X is no less silly than A St., B St., etc., or suburban crescents in Brampton named Royal Palm and Blazing Star and Mount McKinley Lane.

I think a reasonable rule would be that a condo is allowed to have a letter for a name if, and only if, it is shaped like that letter.

X The Condomium: Fail.

The L Tower: Conditional Pass.

U: Go ahead, thrill us.
