i looked at that again, and actually, drum's angle could very well be justified... the lines match up perfectly with those of Scotia Plaza. so it's symmetrical.

Nope. When you take a picture of buildings at an angle looking up, the lines should converge towards the middle (unless taken with a camera whose film plane can be tilted to remain vertical while the lens plane angles upwards). This means that the lines of the buildings (assuming they have vertical walls) on either side of the frame should slant towards the middle of the picture with only buildings in the middle of the picture appearing vertical. If the lines on Scotia Plaza are lined up with the left edge of the picture, then that means that the horizon is not level, but slanted to the left.

In the above photo, while Scotia lines up with the edge, Bay-Adelaide is tilted.

For example: In the following picture, the right edge of Commerce Court is the only line that looks vertical (because it is in the centre), while the buildings slant more and more as you get toward the edges of the frame.

And Drum, this is not a criticism of your photography!!! Your pics are great and much appreciated.

No, it's not. That's the derrick crane that was erected on the roof in the summer. I haven't been able to figure out exactly what they're doing with it.

They were lifting mechanical units some time ago and have a shot of one taken Aug 27.

It may tic people off that my photos are not square, but I like shooting things on an angle from time to time.

I don't mind criticism if it helps me to be a better photographer, especially since I moved to the D7000 camera a month ago with a learning curve for it at this time. Not happy with most of my shots with it so far.

Some thing have to be done on the software side now. Between it and the camera, its a learning process. There are a few plugs in I need to buy and it will require time to learn them. Based on my workload, it will be down the road at this time.

I am almost finished working on my photo shots from Oct 7 and still have close to 2,000 to work on to get me up to yesterday shooting, which was only a few. That one week of solid shooting every day kill me for being current.

I don't think you 'tick off' anyone when posting images that are on an angle. Since you take so many photos, I am sure you do not have the time to rotate them, which is completely understandable. I figured I would shed some light on how you could rotate your images (in Photoshop highlight the image and then go to EDIT/TRANSFORM/ROTATE). And that tip applies to anyone who has taken photos that look fine on their camera, but find that they are not angled properly when on your computer. I know I use the rotate function in Photoshop at times, since I do not use a tripod. It was more of a helpful tip directed, not only at you, but others as well. Your postings are much appreciated, so never think otherwise.

i actually don't like trump at all from the back (more precisely from the south-eastish).. the setback on the east wall is way out of balance...

And awesome news on the hotel opening!... what do you say 500+ UT members chip in $1 and we can all squeeze into a room at Trump Tower for a night... party time!

What about 2000+ UT members and each chip in $10 for the presidential suite?

Great photos. Different angles, aperture and focus all create something a little unique and present us with something outside the stock photos a lot of people take. Keep up the good work. Your photos make people look at buildings in a different and interesting light.
